Silicone separating on Red Sea tank???

How did they respond? Clear silicon failure.

Nobody ever mentions RS‘s plumbing. What was the issue with standard bulkhead fittings? I had my emergency overflow crack right at the plate! at least it wasn’t the main overflow. I decided instead of ordering a new plumbing kit I’d just upgrade the whole tank to a new SCA.

Here’s the final update to this mess.

Red Sea sent a new tank. It took 10 days from me contacting them to receive the new tank. I put half my inverts in a 50 gallon brute with a couple power heads and half in the sump. All my inverts in the sump did great. I lost my serpent stars and tons of snails but not all in the Brute trash can. Not sure what happened. All in all I was probably 15+ hours swapping out the tanks and lost probably lost about $300 in livestock. I’m a bit frustrated with Red Sea on the timing. I reported it first thing on a Monday and it took them until Friday to ship the tank. If we got It shipped same or next day I think all my stuff would have survived

I am glad they replaced it and we figured it out. Just seems crazy it happened in the first place and seems to be fairly common

@TheKylersFire thank you for posting an update of the outcome of your unfortunate situation. I've been following this closely and was curious how RS customer service was. Really sorry for your loss of livestock and time.
I understand that manufacturing/quality issues can and do occur, however it's always how a company handles these issues that really differentiates the good from the not so good. This is especially true when you spend so much of your hard earned money with a company.
Good luck and I hope you get to enjoy your tank for years to come.

Red Sea has banned me from their Facebook group. This is unfortunate as I have been academic throughout. I was about to buy a small Red Sea tank (170) but will steer clear until some transparency emerges.

Was it something you said? That is indeed, unfortunate. Luckily I'm not on facebook so shouldn't be banned at all. It's super disappointing to hear of these tank failures. I spent a significant amount of my hard-earned dollars on a red sea tank which I truly love, but admittedly will most likely go custom for my future upgrade in light of all this nonsense.

This is a known issue with the large red sea tanks. They even sell/send you a center brace to put in your stand to better support the middle of the tank...sadly you have to ask them for it...they should be sending one of those and a warning email out to everyone who ever bought one but they don't

Except this was a reefer170, far from a large tank. I really like redsea tanks, just not their stands or customer service, or metric plumbing. My reefer 350 tank was not quite flat on the bottom, it's mostly settled into the pad but don't trust it long term.

Just a heads up for those who may have this aquarium. Lots of owners have been reporting sagging stands and cracked tanks (as a result of this) on their facebook page... Well it looks like Red Sea have acknowledged the issue and are issuing a fix.

Here is there official statement on the 750s and they have changed the design on the new ones. Alot of people in that thead claim the issue goes all the way down as small as the 250s

I can see it being an issue on my 350. That's a lot of weight supported by Ikea furniture. It's not like the top board is 1"+ thick and it's supported between the side panels, not on top of them

Glad I came across this. I did look for a sag between the glass and foam on my 425xl and as of last week there was no sag. I did notice daylight showing through between the top horizontal plywood and the 3 inch vertical on the front that holds the door catches that runs the length of the tank. I also noticed on the left side of the cabinet/stand that the left side has a 1/4” outward bow on the front (unsupported) face only . In theory this would cause the front left corner to dip putting the tank in a type of torsion.
Some may say was it level when you set it up. Well I can attest that the stand was perfectly level when setup. Plus or minus .008”. Or roughly 1/64 of an inch total. Does anyone have a pic of said brace?

Going through the same thing on my 650 peninsula. Been up for 8 months and slowly seems separating in the middle of both long panes. Couple of months ago they reassured me everything is fine and sent me a retro fit brace. Unfortunately the seem separation continues to get deeper. They emailed me they would send a replacement tank. I am now not a believer in tanks without rims and bracing. This is happening to many companies on their bigger rimless tanks. The modern look of red sea is unparalleled in my opinion. Hoping this tank holds up. And yes, I wish I could talk to someone at red sea. They have you send in an email. They do respond within 24 hours usually. But most of us reefers have ocd and anxiety waiting for a response.
