Simon's 450

That is so awesome. I recently gave away many BTA to my local club memebers. All of them gave me something in return. I offered the BTA for free but it turned into a trade! It was quite fun. I had never done that before. I dipped all of the gifts in a Bayers dip. Everything was great for awhile but then things went south...which led to my rebuild.

BTA's tend to do that. My son picked one up for his 29 gallon bio-cube. Over the course of a year it grew then one day split and he had two. We didn't think there was enough room and I had a similar cube in my office we moved one. Maybe his got lonely and a few months later split again. Great, back to square one. Decided to merge the tanks into a 40 breeder which lasted for a bit. Three became four. Four became five. We don't feed them, they always look nice, fish and corals are doing well yet here we are. At this point I decided I needed to do a larger upgrade which I wanted anyway so had a 210 built. Over the last couple of years finished it and now we are at 7 rose bubble tips. Seem to be holding steady here finally but boy do they tend to take off.

I tried to give them away, found a few takers, but when I tried they had their base really into a deep hole in the rock. I couldn't get it to move via power head redirect, ice, or notes left on the tank (seriously tried that for humor). In any case if I end up with more that is the only thing I can do. Give them away rock and all. I don't think I can upgrade again.

I gave up on BTA a long time ago. I tended to view than as large majanos  .... along with the scourge that are green hairy mushrooms. Gads! Now I just keep a centerpiece magnifica .... and hope it doesn't go floating off.

A bad haircut .....

I told my 16 year old son that's what he looks like from the back. I though it was really funny ..... him not so much.

^^ pictures look nice.

What is the thick green sps sticks? There is also a similar looking branching with girth purple near the green monti in the last picture? They look like they grow vertical or taller rather than horizontal. I have two areas that I would like to try that I think to use has a break in flow.

Former is the classic bali green slimmer. Latter sold to me as purple acro slimmer. Both have a nice open, vertical branching structure; though the green one grows much faster.

Thank you. That is what I'm looking for and I think they will produce the breaks and areas to dart to for refuge. I think those are pretty common right so shouldn't be expensive. Thanks again!

My boys are pretty excited to get a school of fish. The fish in your aquarium are stunning. So inspiring

The nice thing about a really big tank is that I can satisfy my big fish urges and still have enough space for a bunch of small ones. I'd still like to pick up a trigger of some kind and an Achilles tang. Otherwise it's going to be s few smaller things like damsels, basslets, wrasses and maybe an additional dwarf angel.

That is awesome!

Savaging the clip ....

I just purchased the same clip because I see everyone using them. I'm trying to figure out what size seaweed squares I should be cutting up. It looks like your using a bunch of small squares. The first time I tried feeding with the clip I put in one large square and I think my fish were afraid of it. Then I folded up in half and that seemed to work better. But your way maybe even better yet. A bunch of little squares. I'm also trying NOT to have the seaweed floating all over the tank. It can get very messy.

I actually just take a 8x8 sheet and fold it down into the size you see in the video. If you press the clip so the jaws dig into the nori, it helps to keep it there. I have to use a stronger outside magnet otherwise it gets pulled off.
