Skimmer suggestions for 90G

That's a good way of looking at it. To me it's like buying a Lamborghini with a 4 banger in it.

Only time will tell with my situation. I'll keep you posted on it. I actually just talked to Adam and I've upgraded to the sc1455 so I have high hopes everything will work out just fine.

Hi all I saw some posts about the Life Reef heating the tank up was a little concerned but not any more my house right now is at 92 degree's my the next thing I got to work on is the AC lol. My tank is at 79 now I do have a fan on it and just stuck my hand in my sump no heat from this pump at all. But the other thing that mayde me go with Life Reef is you can use any pump AC DC if you want

I did look at lifereef and as good things people had to say about the skimmers the lack of information on the website just threw me off. Everyone says awesome things about those but I think the regular one they sell is right at 24" and so is my stand. Need an upgrade to their site though otherwise I may have dug a little harder into it.

They do make one for a shorter stand give Jeff a call very helpful guy or Email him he will most of the time send an email right back also. I think I have and 10 skimmers I almost bought Deltec but went with Life Reef I have never in my life had a skimmer that started to skim and act right in 2 days

Like I said everyone seems to talk very highly of them. I've talked to people who get new skimmers like a nyos or vertex and have such trust in the lifereef they put it back on after a couple weeks but I've place my order with battlecorals for a deltec

I understand I also picked the Life Reef cause I am not here a lot and I need a skimmer that I don't have to do much too I will most likely set it up with my Apex and a valve to drain it off every couple of days. But this one is still new we will see how it goes

I think the 1660 is more comparable to the others I mentioned back on the second page. It has a white dc jebao pinwheel pump that performs well.

After 30yrs, this has not been my experience. To each his own. You're making sweeping generalizations and you're simply incorrect. Unfortunately, I have no motivation and even less desire to defend my position. What you have in and what you feed your tank are the important variables, not the size of the skimmer.

Best wishes with your new skimmer!! I hadn't realized you'd be buying from Adam. I'd go that direction as well. He's a great guy and wouldn't ever steer you wrong!
Hi, I have just purchased a Reef Octopus 202-S, rated for up to 260 gal (light load). I am running about 100g system total. I have been told it is too big for my system and that I should have purchased a step down (152-S). I am so concerned that I am going to run into the problem that Fritzhamer just described. Technically, I'm still in the break in phase, but already, I'm having to run the water level inside the skimmer 1" up the neck inside the cup. (About 1" higher than recommended). I truly hope your 30 years of experience are correct and that this thing will eventually start working as I hope and others have experienced.

On the flip side, I have others say the same thing you did, large size shouldn't matter. Feed your livestock and things should be fine.
