skimmerless tank show off thread

can you try to get a picture whenever the light isn't as blue?

i'm planning a crazy high bioload for my 75 i come from the freshwater world so generally my approach to high bioloads is to just feed crazy and water change crazy

i'm still working out the details(feeding and filtration) but here is the list

2 O.clownfish
1 captive bred rainford goby
1 diamond goby
1 or 2 yellow watchman goby with some type of pistol shrimp
1 starry blenny
1 midas blenny
1 blue flasher wrasse
1 social fairy wrasse
2 yellow/green clown goby
1 coral beauty angelfish
1 royal gramma
2 captive bred spotted mandarin
2 skunk cleaner shrimp
clams
sessile worms
varius crabs
softies
maybe lps

i want to get the large pax bellum for nutrient export and a carbon reactor and like i said large water changes

Water changes is going to be extremely cost inefficient. I would just get a very good refugium light and or a skimmer with a biopellet reactor.

Water changes will replenish the nutrients for the coral lime calcium, magnesium, etc

keep in mind this isn’t a huge tank.

True, but it is far more expensive to do to water changes than to just dose occasionally. I have a 75g and I would be miserable if I had to rely on water changes to keep those up since I go through around 0.7 to 1 KH a day.

water changes to remove nutrients and other bad stuff that you can't test for

That is the whole point of running good carbon and having a refugium or carbon dosing. And the bad things only get in the tank if you let them get in (tap water, tds in RO, low quality dosing solutions).

I took my skimmer out when I couldn’t keep nitrates and phosphate > 0.
None of my tanks have a skimmer now.

could you get a video/picture of the mandarin?

It’s hiding now, but I will. You will need to watch on a computer, not a phone because I don’t upload to youtube

stages of stocking:
1.clownfish
2.goby (they might compete for space so maybe thin down on the number to maybe 2-3 or so
3.you need to choose 1 blenny, as they might fight
4.royal gramma
5.you will need to chose 1 wrasse from my understanding
6.the cleaner shrimp will be fine whenever
7.coral beauty, it might nip at corals
8.2 mandarins, you will need to wait for the tank to be established and most likely dose pods.

how is this

1.clownfish(mochas)
2.goby (rainfords, diamond and yellow watchmen one of each)
3.you need to choose 1 blenny, as they might fight(starry)
4.royal gramma
5.you will need to chose 1 wrasse from my understanding(social fairy wrasse)
6.the cleaner shrimp will be fine whenever
7.coral beauty, it might nip at corals(do you know if captive bred are more or less likely to nip)
8.2 mandarins, you will need to wait for the tank to be established and most likely dose pods(i understand that and i plan to culture pods to help with the rainford goby and mandarin)

do you think it would be okay to have a pair if i supplement pods?

That seems good
i think a pair will be good if you dose pods too
im not sure about the coral beauty though

i'm willing to risk it coral wise if it starts fighting then i will try a acclimation box/quarantine tank if that doesn't work i will just rehome
