Dude, pitch that tank. Not only it’s got that crack, but there’s a hairline crack too.
That tank has probably got some age too.
You could use the tank for another non water setup? Frog or something? Or sell it to someone who has a frog or Lizard?

What if I got another panel that is the same dimensions and thickness as this one? Could I just take the old one out and replace it?

no,not worth it..sorry:(

Pressure test outdoors filled and assure it holds pressure. I would consult with safelite glass mobile repair and see if they can fill like they do with automobiles- I believe its called " Pressure filling"

I can tell you why it’s not worth it..... don’t take this the wrong way too!

If this was a smaller tank I’d tell you give it a shot! We’re talking about a 150G.... not only that back panel piece will cost about $30ish but then the silicone will cost. Then you must be spot on or it will leak or bust. Only true professionals should do this. Which would cost $$$. You could actually be in worse shape then you started!

Sorry, almost everyone hear aren’t professionals when it comes to replacing glass on tanks that size.
You know what brand that tank is?
Marineland it looks like, if so, then you really need to let her go to a non water setup.
Cut your losses! Which sounded like it wasn’t that much.... Save for a new one!

risk and cost not to mention time, @vetteguy53081 ,has a great idea there ;)
Yeah.... probably this:

She’s still young....... so she might hold for a few more years but I wouldn’t gamble....
Every time you did a water change it could cause it to crack. Pressure changes won’t be good.

I didn’t think of this but you said it was going in a basement? Does the temperature change down there daily?
I ask because you’ll have your tank filled up with the same temp. Now the outside glass will be getting another temp. That could cause it to crack. It’s a far out question but could happen.

It’s connected to the central AC and it’s underground so temp fluctuations are minimal.

The other thing I keep thinking about is that the crack is on the side panel, but from the face view of it, you can’t see anything. So I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not.

The only thing you’ll need to worry about is pressure then. I personally wouldn’t gamble because how big this is.
Remember, a gallon weighs 8.34LB.... you’re looking at 1,251 pounds.....

I was thinking about filling it normally with freshwater and letting it sit for a week. I work from home and the tank is right next to me, so I can see if anything changes during that process. But I’m also thinking about selling the tank as a reptile tank, and just get another one made by glass cages or something.

Nope! Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Could be micro hair cracks stemming off from the major spot! But if you truly feel you could be okay, I’d say try it. Keep us posted if the crack expands or breaks or even nothing happens! I’d love to know your outcome.

Yea I’m not in any real big rush, my current system (75g) is running just fine. I just saw this tank and stand for a steal and jumped on it. So I might as well just see what happens. Worse comes to worse I keep the stand and just get a new tank.

If you ever come down my way, there’s someone selling a 100G. Not a 150G but it’s pretty cheap, probably talk him down to $50....
