Oh and there’s this

They drilled the jig upside down. Lol it’s perfect upside down

When I have someone drill my tank the template I give them always has arrows pointing up.

Did the jig/template make it obvious which way was up? Also left and right of course if required.

also what are those rectangles I see in the silicone?

Also are what I think scratches on the back only? Or is that the front :-(

Hello from Edmonton. This is a tough place to get stuff for the aquarium. Sorry to hear about your tank building issues. I don’t have any help to offer. Hope you get your tank built properly.

Wow that think SUCKS. Is it useable??? With the overflow being so high wouldn’t water spill out of the tank before it has a chance to get into the overflow?

yeah it’s useable I just need to do some rigging with the overflow

I’m from Edmonton too. it can still work. I just need to figure out how to get the overflow to work

Those would be spacers for the silicone, harder to hide in clear silicone than in black but very common in custom built tanks.

;Facepalm

If ever there was a facepalm moment

so what do I do? Do I use a strainer or do I silicone on a retrofit skimmer box from CPR?

I would bore out the hole on the backside of the internal box in the right spot, or even cut the back of the internal box off altogether and then silicone it straight to the glass your bulkhead will need to be installed before hand and leak tested before you silicone the weir in place however.

The retofit internal box from CPR would be a good choice as well and would spare you having to ensure the bulkhead was 100% perfect beforehand. Downside to them is they are rather large.

Another option would be shooting either Exotic Marine Systems or Modular Marine an email to see if they can come up with a custom solution for the hole location.

If it makes you feel any better, I paid 4.5K for a 330g tank, it showed up once with a blemish at 5 months (original quote was 3 months), went back, showed up again with the SAME blemish (5.5 months), went back, showed up again with big scratches on the main panel (6 months), they came to "fix it" and didn't (6.5 months) and was sent back for a refund. I then ordered a tank from a different manufacturer and 12 weeks later it was done and perfect.

So sometimes, you need to wait a looooong time for perfection, for me it was almost a year!

CDA?

Maybe this is an ignorant States thing, but why don't you drive south and buy here and save yourself a lot of trouble.

I am American...I don’t find it offensive or ignorant.

my wife is Canadian. She gets mad at me all the time because I do and say things “I can’t do up there” or are “inappropriate here”

Are you comfortable drilling the tank and overflow box? If so id drill a second hole in each so you have a drain and emergency drain built in or even plumb them together useing the bottom for a full syphon and top for overflow making it quiet.

Or just drill the lower hole and silicone a piece of glass over the old hole on the outside. Water shouldn't even het that high anywy.
