Just the one! I’ve been slowlyyyyy adding a fish here and there after they complete their QT. I have a royal gramma and a lawnmower also in the tank!is it just the one clown in the tank? If so that is definitely a show of dominance
Should I add a smaller clown soon to bond?just a female clown (in the making) showing u whos boss, lol!
I’ll stop by my LFS this week then and start QT! I always worry that the smaller one will be bullied but seems more like a potential bondnow would be a good time to start a qt on a mate,
have an acclimation box to introduce ,when time ,
but yes clowns do better in pairs.
Do they get along? Are they bonded?up to you, I would try to introduce a very small occy or perc in a specimen container if you do. I have a wild caught true perc and black storm occy together in my tank
Could be. Clown fish can have crazy and varied personalities. In my first tank, I had a clown that would stick his head out of the water like a dolphin waiting for food. I had another that would attack my hand. And yet another that would cuttle with my hand.Is the spazzing normal for that???
It really depends. Unless you find a smaller fish you just really love, I would actually recommend adding a larger clown (slowly, using an acclimation box as described above). This is especially true if you're worried about your current clown bullying a smaller fish. Regardless, the larger of the two will become the female (dominant).I’ll stop by my LFS this week then and start QT! This one is a pretty large! Idk if I’ll be able to find one larger. The acclimation box is a good idea thoughIt really depends. Could be a lot worse .Curious if anyone else has this issue! My clownfish only spazzes when I am right next to the tank for more than a minute. He is great…eats great, no sign of disease. When I put my fingers in the water to adjust the temp or fix the flow, he swims right up to me and circles my hand. If I’m sitting on the couch away from the tank, he does not spazz. If I sit next to the tank to stare, he will follow my fingers and spazz every couple minutes. Anyone see this before???
All the time. Be aware it will attack you at some point very territorialCurious if anyone else has this issue! My clownfish only spazzes when I am right next to the tank for more than a minute. Good point.I would check the clownfish forum for advice on pairing. An older single clown (like yours) will be female, you will want to get a juvenile male (all clowns are bore male) if you want them to pair. Otherwise two unpaired clowns in a small tank will end in the death of one.
And if you do get yours paired up be prepared for a lot more spazzing...

New Clownfish HD
One month after introduction, they seemed to start pairing from day one. BTA was hosting within a week.www.youtube.com
Yep, I don't generally name my fish, but my clowns are Mr. and Mrs. WigglesWhen I sit at my desk my two clowns will chill on the side closest to me (the fire fish is even getting involved now). When I had only one clownfish at first it would do that, dance and 'shimmy' at me through the glass. Once the male was added the shimmy stopped. Clowns are weird fish!
