Wow, sorry about your messed up coral system. Your pH must’ve way off and your salinity is too low. I recommend you toss in a couple of bags of reef crystals and some Red Sea salt to raise your Magnesium . Don’t measure, trust me from your pictures the corals are suffering from lack of testing.
Then get a Trident, plug that sucker in and drop it into your sump (if you have one?) or directly into the DT if you don’t. The flow of electricity and the readings you get will help reduce the growth on the corals. They seem to be headed for colony status and then you will have to frag them which is bad cause I’m too far away to get any once you get these issues resolved.

Yeah you are right. Break up those styrofoam boxes into small chunks and use them for bio pellets. I heard they are the bomb for reducing stuff.

Inwill go on a limb and predict you do not host alot of fish now do you?

Your parameters are spot on with your coral needs.
Your light is powerful.
I doubt you feed alot.
Given your no3 is 20, your po4 must be higher than 0.5. That would explain the diatom and brown algae on your sand.
Controller have nothing to do with succes so this not new.
Gfo is not needed if your po4 to no3 ratio are right. High side or low side both work, ratio what matters.
You must be good with water change and husbandry
Not clear how fast these frags are growing though, would be good to know.
Would love to see a picture if your full display if you be too kind.

That's a balance that coral should be happy with no suprise there.

I feed one big meal a day and a little nori

Your growth seems to be more on the base crustation than vertical. I believe it's due to the high nutrients.

I have been running a 6 month experiment about this and see good correlation between po4 and viral growth (if we take flow out of the equation)
Lower po4 stimulate vertical growth. Higher po4 pushed coral to encrusted on base more...

Some are 10 months and some are 2 months
And the others are in between
