Wife fell in love with a transitioning atlantiA blue tang. From what appears to be shipping stress it passed away. Are there any keys to this fish? Other tangs in system are kole eye tang, and blue hippo tang. I want to get her another when they become available...

I had success with this fish. Relatively easy for me, foracious eater. Next time make sure you leave nori sheets out for it at all times. You can also soak the sheets in selcon before for extra nutrients

Hard to chase down snorkeling but I got the pic.

He didn't seem interested in the garlic soaked nori or the medicated food. Should they be gotten big or as a baby before transitioning?

They are very hardy and for me they have been very aggressive as well. My series is only two but one killed the other tang introduced with him and the other was even intolerant of some of my wrasses. Beautiful fish that I wanted to keep because of seeing them so much during my diving but I won't try another.

I wonder if my kole Tang went after him in the night? Wife is really in love with the colorings of a Atlantic blue ... Is there a better alternative?

I would not think so. Koles are pretty calm usually. Sounds like maybe shipping or something else.

They’re not hardy as juveniles (under 2.5 inches or so). They are acanthurus tangs so they can be very sensitive to parasites.

I agree that they’re aggressive but I find Kole to be quite aggressive, often.

We bought one from Diver's Den 2 weeks ago - 4" transitioning. He's in quarantine now. Did not eat for 3-4 days and then began eating voraciously - red nori, mysis with Selcon, Metro, Focus, & garlic. He's EXTREMELY shy, but healthy so far.

Not a great photo but he wasn't small

His colors look very stressed should be a much deeper blue.

Had no issues with mine except that he became the tank bully and had to go away. Eventually need a very large tank. I would say minimum 180 gal.
What size did you get it as? And it's a 125 now, but once we get ready for large angels going to at elasr a 240

Got as a juvenile but grew very fast. Was 6 inches in about 18 months. Now have a yellow and purple. Much better disposition.

My wife really likes the coloring that's my thing.

We frequent the Keys and see these fish all over the reefs. We wanted a fish from the area we visit... Our DT is a 125g. If he grows too large, I'll re-home him with a friend with a 700g DT.
