How much RODI are you making at a time? I bought a hose timer (automatic, not digital) from a big box warehouse store and screwed it into a spigot [I have a Y split on my washing machine water source, one to the washer one for RODI]. I turn the dial to 1 hour and it gives me a 5 gallon bucket of RODI and turns itself off. Hard to beat for simplicity.

This ^. I used to always flood my 5 gallon buckets until I bought one of these hose timers. Fairly cheap and I used my last one for almost 5 years. I have the same setup- Y split on the washing machine source. The first time you fill your bucket, time it. Then set timer for less than that on future fills.

Just an FYI, i believe these are only good up to 55psi worthwise they tend to fail. I push 80psi through mine and ive had to replace this valve twice already. If you contact BRS like i did they will sell you the same. If you want it to work you have to dial it back down. Right now mine is shutting it off at 80psi but its only a matter of time before it fails.

I don't think that to be true. I had 80 psi for the first year and a half and 70 psi for the last 6 months and that shutoff kit has never failed.

They're meant to be used with booster pumps, so that doesn't make sense that anything over 55 psi won't work. Maybe under 55 psi won't work?

I put mine in the garage, that way when I forget it it runs out under the garage door. Unfortunately I was not so lucky when the aquarium developed a major leak in the living room, let just say my 65 gallon tank averaged 500.00 per gallon in damage to the house, yes if you are math challenged that is 30000.00 in damage! Needless to say I won't be asking Santa for a new aquarium this year! Good luck.

For me I turn it on walk away and check the time. It’s that “easy” because my RODI is connected to the hose in my basement which is right next to the slop sink. So, I can put my bucket in the sink and I don’t have to worry about overflowing. The downside is carrying the bucket up 2 flights of stairs.

Don’t feel bad. I have an auto shut off for my salt mix / fresh containers. As stated above Float valve is all you need. I do not have one for when I decide to fill a jug with drinking water. I flood my Garage almost every time..

So it’s weird... like my upstairs sink (one with a bathtub) used to be the one I did my RODI on. Somehow I think I bent the inside ring that you screw into, and could never get my RODI mounted there again.. tried the other day again even. So now it’s always downstairs which is also a pain, it’s only a 5 gallon bucket.. easy to carry but also easy to overflow. Ideally I would love to be able to justify drilling under my sink in my bathroom to a line to my closet on the other side of the wall; and mounting the RODI right there. Ideally that’s what I’ll eventually do if I don’t manage to flood my house again... on strike 2 of 3 . This was just a careless mistake of leaving without realizing it was on. How would one go about hooking a RODI connection to the bottom of a sink?
I've done that, went to watch a football game, came back to just a little bit of water on the floor.
Now I leave the 20g Brute in the shower.
