Here is from there website! Put it to rest, these things happen from time to time. Nobody is perfect, we are all human. Y'all shouldn't believe what you see on TV, It's entertainment television, do you honestly believe that the people at ATM don't care about the animals they put in there aquariums? Also they never claimed to be the fish people, they build tanks.. Not trying to start anything but I think that some people are looking way to far into it. It's TV

I was commenting on the way that type of tanks are built and the fact they can break at a seam. Sure it's a TV show, but they have more exposure to the public than almost anyone in the history of the hobby. As along time aquarist, a skate board tank is hard to get over, for me. Otherwise if you want to tote a 8' black tip reef shark up Tracy Morgans two flights of steps, I want to see that episode. That's entertainment. I wouldn't hesitate even now to ask ATM to build me a tank. I would just do all the rest.

Totally agree with you, my comments weren't directed towards you, sorry if it came off that way. My bad. It's just funny how people can buy into a TV show. Have you ever seen conspiracy theory, all crazy talk.. I can't imagine taking on some of the projects they do and the aquariums of mammoth size and shape. Let alone building a 20 gallon, lol. Not sayin that I couldn't , I'm pretty handy. Lol. I've seen all the tanks in Disney many times as in live about an hr or so from there and they are all amazing. thank god the employees there knew what to do to save the fish that called that tank home.

I enjoy the show as it allows me to not only see this hobby that I love and tanks that I will probably never be blessed to have but it also allows for interesting tv that I can share with the family without having to worry about language or unsuitable content. Overall, I really enjoy it.

See that's the beauty of opinions, I don't like Fish tank kings. While I feel the Asian guy is very knowledgeable, I hate the fact that everyone (at least in the 3-4 episodes I have watched) is always p_ss_d of. The owner is always yelling at everyone, kicking or throwing something around like a rich snob when things don't go his way screaming profanities at everyone of his guys. I would not be able to work for someone like him and do not find that it makes for interesting Tv. Jmo
+1 on this post. I cant watch Fish Tank Kings for them very reasons. They need to get over themselves.
In the very British way.... everytime i watched an episode i wanted to write to them to point out how much or an a** **** they make themselves look.

As a boss i would never speak to people im that way. Ye i understand that some people sometimes need to be told bit there are ways and means. I know how i would feel and what id like to do if someone yelled at me so i dont do it to others.
What ever floats your boat though. I suppose thats the beauty of us all bwing different.

Being from Las Vegas, I have had the opportunity to check there place out..its pretty neat and all..But in my opinion the show got the their head. Yeah, they have some impressive builds but the how they go about everything is all wrong..plus...never volunteer to help them out...complete .....you can fill that one in. The females are super nice though lol.
I didn't read prior post. But if you do your research they have killed off plenty of fish sadly..and some of their tanks from season 2 in this area (vegas) are no longer running.
To name a few:
Phone Booth Tank: Was sitting at Blue Reef Aquatics on consignment in May 2012
Serendipity Gumball Tank: Pretty sure it fell through/broke down due to the HOT weather we have outside.
Jukebox Tank: Was removed from service for some reason, guessing no one to maintain it.
And if you go to the KISS tank...not one of the fish in the tank now are the same ones they initially put in.
So I rack it up to initial die off of fish and the owner doesn't want to deal with maintaining it.
The show in my opinion is retarded, the guys on the show are arrogant...but hey, most of America like shows like Jersey Shore and all those other stupid reality shows its all about getting numbers up and making money, not about the animals they kill or possibly kill or anything else.

Many of the tanks have livestock problems after the show wraps up filing leaves.
I know of one locally who had a massive ammonia spike and fish die off because it wasn't properly cycled and the maintenance company the show chose wasn't equipped to maintain a tank of that magnitude. . Plus if you look at the filtration it is laughably undersized. I have a bigger skimmer on my tank at home.
It looks much better now but the local fish store had to take over maintenance and restock everything. But if you went to the grand opening of the restaurant, the tank was cloudy and fishless.

A few members of our reef club got to talk with the guys from tanked a couple years ago and it was pretty interesting. They emphasized they have no hand in how the show is edited or what they choose to include or not include. They will put more fish in the tanks for the show and then take them out for a more reasonable stocking level over time. They don’t like how the show skips over the technical aspects of saltwater fish keeping and even the manufacture of the systems, but once again they don’t have a voice in that. The show is mostly entertainment as animal planet chooses to edit it.
They don’t like how experienced saltwater hobbyist views them now, so why do they do it? They said the show paid them several million a year (this was in 2011) plus greater exposure of their tanks and supplies.
This is just what they told us so take it as you will. I am not making any personal comments on it.

In a world where Honey Boo Boo and Sarah Palin have their own reality shows, anything can happen. I understand there may be efforts behind the scenes. But what I cannot forgive is their willingness to build theme tanks that they well know are going to be sustainable. Skateboard tank, outdoor Las Vegas bubble gum tank, everything they have done for Tracy Morgan, etc. these systems should never have been built or stocked with live stock. There are first timers on this forum with more common sense.they may be very nice guys, but their TV show sends the message that fish are just decorations and are expendable.

I talked with these guys down in Ft Lauderdale at MACNA. For the most part down to earth guys. They did take a hit on forums re the perceived use of tap water and so they brought in and really emphasize nutri-sea for the water. In season 2 they had a chemist that would measure the water params temp and salinity. This season they've gotten away from it. I have no doubt they are caring for the fish and are doing what's in their best interest.
I'm a huge fan of the show because it is so ridiculous. I do wish they did more real corals, but hey, fowlr's are just fine!
