Has anybody experienced any browning or polyp retraction when first starting with the full line up? I just started this past Sunday. I had a little dip in my Alk as I was dialing in my dose. (Edit) I forgot to mention that my Mg was kind of low 1200 and is now 1300 so there was a slight increase there in the last 3-4 days. I have not tested for nitrates of phosphates yet (so take it easy on me)

Yes you are! [emoji4] nice!
Looking good!

When I first set up my tank I did the 14 days of bio S and switched to ProbioS and NP Pro, and running AF zoeliths, Phosphate Minus, and AF carbon stack method. A month later did a 10% water change with Probiotic Reef Salt. I kept dosing ProbioS and NP Pro. Changed out the reactor with new media probably about 6-8 weeks ago. This last Sunday, changed the reactor media, did another 10% wc with probiotic salt, and started dosing aminos and vitamins every other night and build and energy every other night. Still dosing NP Pro, and ProbioS. Have been doing the recommended doses for my water volume 5 drops of all additives. Also on Sunday started dosing Components 1+,2+,3+. Tried dosing 80mLs in my 160 total water volume Alk went from 8 to 7.3 been slowly increasing until I know have it at 7.7 and dosing 120mLs of each component. Alk is 7.7, Ca 440, Mg 1300, SG 1.025.No I never experienced that at all. Can I ask what products your using etc... this will help me understand a little better .
I use the full probiotic method. I started out with just doing normal water changes with the new salt. Once I was satisfied that I had converted over then I introduced pro bio s and np pro. I also ran a GFO reactor during this time. I got down to UNLS levels at about 2 weeks into the program. Then I started dosing the ABVE products at half the required dose. I ended up pulling the GFO reactor offline because I didn't need it any more. I've since established a patter and dosing amounts for my tank through rigorous testing during this time.
I now dose 3 drops of np pro and pro bio s even though my system should require 4. I also dose the following Amino mix 2 drop every other day, coral vitality 2 drops every other day. The Aquaforest build daily 4 drops and the Aquaforest energy 3 drops daily.
My latest numbers....
Alk 7.6
Time 9:28am
Phos 0
Nitrate .1ppm
Cal 400ppm
Mag 1300ppm
Temp 78.2
Ph 8.23
I keep my Alk under 8 dkh to prevent tip burn. Hope this helps [emoji4]
Yeah, the tank is very young 3-4 months old. I have a light bioload right now too, just 3 fish. I was thinking of dialing back the dosing a little. And yes I know I need to get nitrate and phosphate test kits. I really think most of it is due to the alk swing, as I was keeping it steady at 8dkh with BRS two part. Then the drop, and bringing back up a little everything is still settling in. I am definitely curious to see where my nitrates and phosphates are at.The only thing I'd watch out for is getting to lean with the nitrate. Achieving 0 phos and 0 nitrate is very achievable using this method.
Feed heavy! Also be careful with the Amino mix and the vitality, strong stuff! You'll have to do some observation of your tank.
Most folks don't have a browning issue at all . From what I hear it's the opposite in fact. Corals going lighter due to lack of nutrients... i.e. Nitrate.
If I were you I'd be checking my nitrates. This is what I suspect and they may be high. [emoji4]
Nice looking tank

Thanks guys. Trying to make Perry proud.. lol
