In all honesty, I am unaware of whether the alk part supports PH, I have never measured PH in my 10 years of keeping SPS, while I know it is important, I really do not test of monitor. I can tell you that the corals in your tank will most certainly tell you that the products are amazing, I have had had awesome growth using Component 123, I now mix my own, which gives you even more control over your mineral levels :) Cheers
what product would I use to mix my own 1+2+3?

On second thoughts I think I will stay with the 1+2+3+

Really silly question maybe...... Maybe not. I currently use kalkwasser in my ato. I have component 123 and want to start using those. Can they be added at the same time? Will these take the place of kalk? I have a very light coral load at the moment so how much should I start dosing with?

Current run probiotic salt , np pro , bio s, brs kalk, esv mag, esv calcium, esv alk.

I would not use the kalkwasser in combination of the Component 123 system, as it will handle all mineral and trace. When dialing in, I simply test alk everyday at the same time, and make adjustments until I see no swing from day to day, that then became set point for all others. You can start with a small dose, similar to what you are using with your current routine, and take it from there :) Cheers

Can the component 123 be added at the same time??

I plan on running the kalk out of the ato before I make the switch.

Each part of the 3 part system needs to be dosed separate. I would try to avoid them delivering liquids simultaneously in the same area of the sump. So, if you have to use your dosers this way, I would deliver liquids to different parts of the sump, to avoid precipitation. This is why my doser has a 5 minute built in schedule. Either way, you can make it work...

Thank you! [emoji51]

I have 82 gal volume and dose 97 ml 1+2+3+ with a heavy load of corals. I just started bi weekly water changes since my levels are holding steady. I have to make some adjustment to the dosing to dial the dosing amount in but it is less then recommended. that is my story:)

Thanks Jsker, that seems a lot more reasonable.

Do you have any experience with how long the mixed Probiotic salt can be stored and have you had any issues missing doses on the supplements (build, vitality, ProBios) when you are away for more than a few days?

Thanks

I dose them one hour apart. One thing I found out is that I dose different amounts of 1+3+ that 2+ in my system. 2+ is your alk supplement

I use the reef salt, but would say if you store the salt in a cool climate the salt will not brake down. That being said I store my salt in the garage here in Florida and I have not had an issue, except if I do not put the lid on tight the salt clumps up.
Yes I do miss the supplements from time to time.

Just like jsker, I live in Florida also, also keep my freshly made saltwater in a dedicated 32g garbage can. I have used the premixed saltwater with the probiotic salt a few days after I mixed it. I haven't seen any side effects or it breaking down. I am trying a bucket of the reef salt since my g/f accidentally got me that instead of the Probiotic.

I have also missed supplements from time to time, it happens. just don't try to overdose bc you missed a few days.

I have been following along here and some one mentioned the monthly cost of using the balling supplements. I've looked on Saltysupply, and Dr.FosterSmith and it appears that they are selling all three parts 5L containers as a unit for $49.99, am I reading this correctly? Also @Perry has mentioned he mixes his own, which saves costs. What are the 3 dry components called?

Looking at the Aquaforest site, and until @Perry confirms this , we would need the calcium, magnesium, KH buffer, and reef mineral salt and mix the Ca Mg in on container 1+, KH buffer in another 2+ and Mineral salt in another 3+

Thank you Jsker and G8trbait16 for the feedback,
I think I am going to give it a go. Probably start with the component 1 2 3, then switch things out as I run out of them, since I just got a new bucket of Tropic Marin Pro salt, etc. plus I need to get my NO3 down a bit, No3 has been sitting at 10 and PO4 at .03.
I have an unopened triton test that I will send in after I have things running for a bit on the new components. I have sent several in in the past and have always been low on I, Ni, Zn, V and Mn. I am interested to see if the AF components 1 2 3 will fill in those gaps.

I saw a difference in two weeks using the 1+2+3. I do not know if I stated this before but I also dose 5 ml ever other day of the components A.B,C in the 1000 ml dosing size containers just for that extra little kick.

AF Calcium~ 50 grams per 1 liter
AF Magnesium~ 10 grams per 1 liter
Component A Strong~ 5ml per 1 liter
Component B Strong~ 5ml per 1 liter

Bottle 2:
AF KH Buffer~ 80 grams per 1 liter
Component C Strong~ 5ml per 1 liter

Bottle 3:
AF Reef Mineral Salt~ 25 grams per 1 liter
Component K Strong~ 5ml per 1 liter

Thank you very much for the recipe:) Did the math and the saving is about half of the pre mix, Going to play chemist from now on. I have the 1+2+3+ containers for holding

@Perry, when measuring out the Ca, Alk and Mg per liter, are you actually weighing out grams for each on a scale, or are you using the general formula that 1 ml = 1 gram? Or is there some other way to calculate grams for each, like an included scoop?

Thanks again for all the help Perry, Jsker and everybody else :)
