Have you tried to run a magnet over your sand? It looks like black sand and some were concerned a while back about high iron levels. Not really sure how that would differ from gfo but I like to ask a lot of questions. lol

No, I started reefing in the mid 80's. I took a 10 year break and decided I wanted a reef tank again and I wanted a mid size tank for my office
. I used to use puka shell and white sand in the past and wanted something different for sand. Yes if I am not careful a grain or two of the black sand will get attracted to a magnetic glass cleaner. The iron has always test low in my tank and I was adding iron for color with Red Sea colors before I switched to AF. An un asked question usually brings trouble, please do not hesitate to ask, I can alway not answer

You will be happy with the AF, I started with the 1+2+3+ and the tank started look better after two weeks. Just fine tuned my dosing after adding a sump and I am now doing water change every 15 days and thinking of going to monthly. My growth is also doing very well. Let us know how it is going in a couple of weeks
