Texas 180 half hex tank

I looked back at your original question and it's really broad. So, I guess I'll address the algae issue to get started. If I were you, I'd do the following:

1. Get the temp up to the ~78 range over about a week. Seems like you're already doing this.

2. Remove those green kessils, which I think you already did.

3. Control my feeding so there isn't extra phosphate for the algae to feed on.

4. Add a GFO reactor or algae scrubber. If you go the easier route, which is GFO, here's my suggestion. The one that I use that it really nice, and affordable (though out of stock): http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-gfo-carbon-reactor-deluxe1.html. Since it's out of stock, the standard will do just fine: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-gfo-carbon-reactor-single.html. The standard GFO is: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-bulk-gfo-granular-ferric-oxide.html. I use the following, as it also works as biopellets (with 0 everything, you don't seem to need the biological filtration, but it can't hurt for the future as you add more critters): http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/all-in-one-n-p-reducing-biopellets.html

5. Go buy a coral on a big rock covered in coraline algae. A zoa rock usually works well. Coraline algae needs to be introduced into the system, but once it is, it should help with the less desirable algae.I kind of feel like your system stalled half way through the algae cycle and that's why you're in the spot you're in. I suppose the temp could be a contributing factor, but I'm no scientist.

6. Dose some pods and phytoplankton. Pods will devour algae and the phytoplankton feeds the pods and competes with other algae for the same food, often winning out. I buy from AlgaeBarn: https://algaebarn.com/product/pods-phyto-pp/

If you do all of this, you really have your bases covered. If you're still having algae issues then your tank is getting direct sunlight, you're massively overfeeding, or something else is out of whack.

Just some suggestions.

Ahh ok that makes since, I had troubble with corals and fish in the start of the tank die to the heater over heating, but in the past 8 months I have not had any problems

I pulled my hair algae out, then left the tank dark for a week. This largely cleared up the hair algae. I have a little left growing amongst my corals so I'm dosing peroxide to address it.

Are you using RODI for water changes?

Something must be wrong because I lost a plate coral frag overnight it was bright orange and now it's like gray white colored

I'd take some water to Just Reef and get them to test it just to make sure. If you haven't been there before the guy that runs it is a really good guy and will do what he can to help you out.

Yeah, I have to swing by their. It's about 20 min from home lol. I wish their was a LFS close to Buda/Kyle area
