Thank you bristleworm

An aptasia rating filefish will also eat bristle worms. I always found mine with bristles all over his mouth. I've gotten hit by a few bristles. The tape trick works wonders. I'm also one of the lucky few to be allergic to the fox face and spent 2 days in the hospital getting antibiotics run through me non stop. I was the med students favorite patient. They came by he dozens to ask dumb questions haha.
File fish worry me, plus I think they would max out my bioload for this tank lol. That had to be a fun allergy to find out about!

Wait...what's the panty hose method?
Haha it's sticking a piece of shrimp or krill or whatever inside of panty hose. The bristleworm will get caught in it trying to get to the food. Traps haven't worked for me, so I will be trying this method when I get a chance to pick up the panty hose. Because I am probably the only woman who does not own a pair haha.

My Melanarus and Christmas wrasse hunt any bug in my tank whether on the rock or sand

Yeah..I'm into trying that. I'm not against bristle worms, but I have so OooooooOooooo many. It's a battle to even feed coral..they usually take the food.

I would absolutely love a wrasse, but I have a mandarin and a 45 gallon, so I am pretty limited. I might be able to do a sixline or a possumtype

I am right there with ya:)

I got a green coris need a leaf blower to keep sand off all my coral had a six line he never ate any bristles the coris did a good job but the sand everyday got old he went back to the lfs file fish ate zoas he went back also arrow crab has been a model citizen have yet to see it eat bristles though lol

We had a relatively new employee once drudging sand in the invert system to pull all the snails/hermits up to a pedestal so we could filter out the empty shells (which we do periodically). Live critters will move from the pedestal eventually leaving behind only empty shells.

Well...he forgot to put on gloves before doing so. That tank had a LOT of bristle worms in it. Vinegar does work wonders. I'm surprised it hasn't been confirmed in this thread yet, but yes...it does work. The vinegar dissolves the spines. We keep a vinegar mix in a spray bottle for cleaning. All it took was a few sprays to his hand and it stopped relatively quickly. You don't want to break the spines off in your hand. As one other mentioned here...they can be quite annoying under the skin for an extended period of time.

I will keep the vinegar in mind for next time, if there is a next time lol. I almost exclusively use vinegar for cleaning, so I always have it around (in a spray bottle also). I love the pedestal idea!

I caught one in the trap. Now that the light is out I hope to catch more.

I got hit bad by one last year. Hurt like crazy and had me worried for a while. I used vinegar within minutes and it didn't work.

Here is the aftermath
