THE DIRTY SKIMMER "CUP" - lets all play along

It wont allow for adjusting on my end either. If i have an up and down photo even if i take it to a photo shop and try to rotate - it is always still side to side. I found with my galaxy s4 that if i take a photo with my volume button up on a side shot that this is the prob and i cant get around it. I have switched it to do side photos with the volume button down and photos always work. Just an aspect in case?

All these skim pics make me jealous - its funny as a few have stated thus far - that they clean every 3 days so a week will be watching. Well i clean 1nce a week and sometimes slip so to watch on a daily basis you realize what really is happening. Same with the last comp. Often we change on a day but get caught up and think "I'll change it tomorrow" but than slip even a couple more days. Its packed full when you finally get to it. And cleaning is a relief.That is the huge benefit to this thread besides having fun with like minded hobbiests within our own hobby. Is that seeing the small things we look over makes the workd of difference. Sure you have a sched but do you know what it looks like and if something was to change? It is hard to pinpoint a skimmer to effectiveness but this will be a good layout to display different systems with different approaches and like skimmers to see action and how hobbiests have chosen to use in their attack. It will be beneficial in the end and the road to getting there will be fun and active.

I have a question what if my skimmer is pulling out stuff that looks like BRIGHT GREEN!!! ??? I have seen dark green with food, and ect. but not this color

Ok i cleaned my cup finally since the last time i think it was a while smelled not pleasant i moved around some of my rock work and replaced my carbon pad.My skimmer is going crazy with bubbles nitrates about 20 ppm ammonia .025 ppm nitrite 0 ppm ph 8.2 it does that on occasion any clues why?

The bright green color would be from a more wet skim would be my guess(has more water to it than the dark sludgy dry skimming)

not sure on skimmer reaction - could be the initial pad change? has anyone put their hand next to the intake of their skimmer and watched if the skimmer reacts differently with its bubbles - try it.

Are you using any supplements that are blue or green in color? Certain supplements that I have used get pulled right out of the water by the skimmer, color and all.

If possible, yall let us know what skimmer, bio load size, system size, etc. I believe it would be beneficial for others that may be on the market for a skimmer whether it's a upgrade or new system. Seeing is definitely believing imo.

240g w/55 Sump and 50g remote fuge.
230 SWC skimmer
Medium bio load (for now)
Water changes when I can
Mixed reef

Super stoked this thread didn't need bumped today but here is the running roster as of tonight(will update nightly with new additions to the event).

Team roster for the Dirty Skimmer "CUP".....as of now - these folks will be getting an @ tag the day of the game start Mondy the 8th - 1 week from today and the count down starts now!
For those of you that enjoy stats...you may have noticed the new tagged and mentioned stats we each have under our names/profile pic and info that is displayed next to our posts on the left. The majority of those are at 0 for most folk. Well....... Those that make the roster will be getting an @ tag on Monday the 8th(start date for this match) putting your mentioned stat at 1 now...the crowd goes wild.
Taking it a step further - I will also be tagging all roster teammates that make the final list to the specific Dirty Skimmer "CUP" thread - which will take your tagged stat to 1 as well - its the start to building up your stats and no more 0's for us.lol.

And that's why I have the jug. I can go two weeks I usually just use my handy scrubber brush and pop the top to keep inside of neck clean every few days and Saturday pop it off for good cleaning.

Sweet peeps Tomorrow is the day! My skimmer needs cleaned super bad so I am stoked for tomorrows cleaning and will get my 1st pics along with helpful tank stats up.

I will give a shout out to our running roster in the morning before I go to work to lock in some stats and give everyone a heads up on starting date. Remember it would be helpful if you add a bit of info with your 1st skimmer pic of the week like skimmer specs if known, stock list, other nutrient exporting, feeding, tank size, etc. Anything you feel would be helpful knowing for someone watching your skimmer thru the match.
