No sir. Just got off the phone with the power company and there are dozens of power polls snapped so it’s going to be a bit.

That is not what one wants to hear, but on the bright side your family, house. and you are ok :)

Absolutely!!!

Cummins are pretty easy on fuel. Hopefully you’ll be okay
Trouble is electric company sent out a text at noon saying it will take 2 to 3 days to restore power!

Just went and bought a 10,000 watt portable generator. Tanks, internet, freezers, refrigerators ( bar fridge plugged in right after tanks lol ) coffee pot, and main floor tv all powered. Now to go get a 100 gallon fuel tank to put in my truck and fill it with gas.

Dear Mother Nature I’m sorry for saying all these means things about you I’ve learned my lesson no more please!!!

Apex is up and the tanks are not happy from only have return pumps for the last 15-16 hours!

Oh and to boot seeing I just got internet back and took a breath I checked my email and I have 14 Acro’s, 2 Monti’s, and a few chalices coming tomorrow from the WWC lighting and after sale from Sunday! Of course Fed Ex already has them so it’s to late to delay the shipping, just wasn’t on my mind with all this craziness. Going to give a buddy a call that has a 240 SPS dom tank and see if he can house them for a bit so I make sure mine are still stable. Not wanting to lose a shipment of beautiful corals over thinking everything is ok. Being my first go at Acro’s I want a positive start.

Thankfully I have a diesel truck with a 5000 watt dc to ac converter! Have had no power since the possible tornado that hit last night. Storm took the power out at 2258 so I looked out the window and to my surprise 24” round trees were sideways, power lines were down, and I swear the rain felt like nails!
I ran out to my truck with a power cord fired the girl up, plugged the cord in and ran back into the house. I have all 3 return pumps running, 2 powerheads in each tank, a air pump with lines running to each tank and that’s it as it’s plenty warm in the house now.
I’ll say that was a horrible 5 minutes last night. For all those in the NWA, North West Oklahoma, SE Missouri I hope y’all are ok as that was pretty nasty!!!

Last year a F4 tornado ripped thru various parts of Northern Kentucky.... it did 162million dollars worth of improvements

Well lost my last Vlamingii Tang and my Marine Beta now. Sailfin Tang is not looking to hot either. I think getting the portable generator to run the entire system while I wait for the whole house generator to get here next week was a bit to late as almost all my fish seem to be gasping for air. I have 4 big air pumps going to town in the tank and most os the fish are hanging out in the bubbles but still seem to be gasping. I feel I have failed my pets by not getting a generator sooner. In all the years we have lived here we have never gone more then 3 hours without power so it just wasn’t on the top of my list. It’s just heartbreaking to see this.
To all that read this get a generator. Before getting the next new toy or upgrade get a generator to run said new toy or upgrade to keep your pets alive, please don’t fail them like I did!

I went through this same thing last night. Even though the water was being oxygenated, my fish were coming to the surface gasping. Seeing dead bristle worms, I took a shot in the dark and assumed ammonia was present. I added some Prime and my fish all survived.

So sorry for your losses. So heartbreaking. Good luck.

Glad you’re ok! I have a new generator sitting in the garage and thankfully haven’t had to use it yet......but I’m ready.

Did you know 50% of 3rd world countries have to walk 2-3hrs a day to gather clean water for their family?

And you're complaining about no Keurig coffee... lol
It's all relative. Those 50% probably complain when for whatever reason they are unable to walk this few hours. While others only have the option to walk once a week.

good thing we dont live in a 3rd world country ?

I was in a Local fish store a month back, and we actually had a tornado in northern virginia, small one and the wind was insaine and all the power lines up the street blew the boxes on the poles i forgot what they are called. Had like 4 huge explosions and the store lost power. The sumps all started to flood the floor and the guy pulled this generator out and didnt even know how to wire it up.

I paid cash adding 6% sales tax on a calculator lol and bought my corals in the dark. It was pretty cool, thankfully they didnt lose anything i called em like a week later to see if they got power back or not

I'm a little heartbroken to read this. I was so hopeful everything would be ok. :( I'm sorry.

Just topped the generator off on fuel and I'm dreading going downstairs but I need to do it. Wish me luck

Hit the bottom stair and I knew it was over. The smell gave it away. Well y'all it safe to say I'll be away from the iPad today as I drain the big tanks for a reset. Not a single fish is alive. Thought about doing a set of tests but it would just be a waste of what I already know Ammonia. Time to start making 800 gallons of water.

Oh No! I'm more sorry than I can tell you. Please stay positive about this. I know it will be hard. :(

Oh no on the fish loss :-(. Never good news

Well the good news is the 100 gallon tank upstairs it all ok. Just did a inventory on them and everyone looks good and swam right to me thinking it's time for breakfast. So out of 50 fish I have 8 that were in the holding tank.
