I'm intrigued by all of this and it would fall into my category of 'ridiculously tedious hobbies', which I love.
The big point of this method (besides stability) is the ability to take the tediousness out of it. It doesn't require much time once you get used to measurements, testing, dosing. Of course initial set up there is a learning curve. I don't spend a whole lot of time with my "hands in the tank", I spend a maximum of 5 min a day cleaning algae and feeding, and 20 minutes on the weekend testing, cleaning skimmer, and adjusting dosing. The big point is you do all of this w/o WC which tends to be a hobby killer imo.

My question here is you are only dosing 4 elements? Does that still help in reducing water changes?
