well this went downhill fast...
before this gets locked i'd like to say i have over 40 acros in my tank including the WD, RR OP, RR Pretty in Pink, JF Fox Flame - being the more expensive of the bunch. Out of all of them my favorite is a no-name tabling acro that i bought for around $20 bucks at the LFS because it was brown and didn't look like much. 3 years later it's gorgeous. It's my favorite because I feel like I accomplished something in helping the coral morph from a caterpillar to a butterfly.
It's true, the JF Fox Flame I have looks exactly like what they do in pics. It truly is gorgeous, even when I got it as a 1.5" frag it already looked like it's mother. But I had no hand in that. Sometimes I compeltely forget I even have it, as beautiful as it is my eyes just sweep right past it. My eyes always tend to focus more on the acros I'm trying to get to color up - mainly the WD, OP, and the Pretty in Pink.
My point is, I want to do the work to get these guys to color up. I don't want the easy route, I want to test myself as an aquarist. If the WD colors up anywhere near the mother colony then great! I've succeeded. If not THEN I would be disappointed. But judging by how things are going currently it looks like it truly may end up like the mother or close to it. So please don't s#it on my little adventure here.
PS - the biggest (and only) disappointment thus far in my tank is my WWC Somewhere Over the Rainbow...over a year it's encrusted quite nicely and grown many times its size yet it still just looks like a red planet (not a bad thing but I already have a red planet)...
