The WORST sound in reefing.....IS NO SOUND AT ALL!

No POWER! No Water flow! No sound..nada!

Do you agree?

I came home from a trip, walked downstairs to where the tank room is and NO SOUND! For a moment I panicked and then I quickly remembered that I don't have a tank anymore due to our impending move. Scared me...then made me sad!

Worse for me are dry pumps IMO, tank running, waters not.

Silence is pretty bad, but hearing water dripping is the most terrifying sound in reefing. At least if the power's out, you can do something, like aerate the water or float a hot water bottle. When the tank springs a leak, you can only move your fish and corals into rubber bins or a spare tank and hope nothing dies.

Yah !!! I would think the pssst! Trumps the quiet !!! . The quiet if prepared for is manageable especially if your their there to not hear the quiet . But the leak or catastrophic crash of water would be a nightmare maker .nice thread though revhtree !

OMG, i have expended all of my engineering prowess to make the most silent and efficient tank possible….Sooooo when i do hear water falling or sucking i literally can feel my heart fall into my flip-flops!! A close second is hearing a noisy pump/impeller especially from the return or my d@mn Gyre. I swear owning a Gyre is like owning a classic car…always wrenching on it!
