The WORST sound in reefing.....

The absolute worst sound in the hobby is a loud "Tink!!!!!" immediately followed by a "Whooosh".

Thankfully none of these happened to me, but the three worst sounds to me would be
1) Hearing from the person who was supposed to be feeding your fish during your two-week vacation "whoops, I forgot to"
2) The sound of you telling your spouse when you get home from your vacation "everything is dead"
3) The sound of your spouse saying "no" when you tell her you intend to restock the tank

I think the day I take another vacation is the day I no longer have tanks of any kind. I wouldn't be able to have a good time anyway because I would be stressing out about my tanks the whole time!

Yep, a cheap hose timer and problem solved, only took me like 13 years

Worst sound I have ever heard in this hobby, was the bottom front seam separating. Sort of a strange noise, water hit the ceiling and the tank emptied in probably 2 to 5 minutes.

I came home from a trip, walked downstairs to where the tank room is and NO SOUND! For a moment I panicked and then I quickly remembered that I don't have a tank anymore due to our impending move. Scared me...then made me sad!

i once read a thread where a reefer was asleep and woke up to a large pop and then running water. A seam on the tank busted in the middle of the night. That would be a bad sound as well.
But, I do agree that coming home and hearing nothing is not a great sound either.

the worst part of the ’lack of sound’ when you do lose power is that at first it seems so peaceful and good… and then you realize what’s happening and you LOSE YOUR MIND
