I need to up my game of photography with my iridis.

Broken possum wrasse doesn’t run and hide when the big guys are riled up during the “20 minutes of hate” (mirror put up in front of glass). He hops right in front of the mirror with the rest of them looking for a scrap.

Isn’t the mirror trick great? Territorial encroachment is just part of nature. This trick bring out the best color of the wrasses (and other fishes)

It’s fantastic! Years ago, when I still kept a variety of different tangs, I would use a mirror to mitigate aggression from time to time. However, I never really considered the general benefits of using a mirror for wrasses (and other fish) until recently (about a year ago). And if I remember correctly, it was some discussion from you in this thread that convinced me that periodically using the mirror could have a general positive impact on the fish, and not just useful for mitigating agression.

I now put the mirror up every few days for ~20 minutes or so, and don’t plan to stop!

On a side note, your photography continues to fill me with envy. Any time you happen to post photos I can’t help but just say “wow.”

That's the bigger one (he?). He's becoming more and more bold and coming to the front of the tank and not shying away when I approach the glass. Really pleased with them. The smaller (she?) Is still a bit shy. BUT, while they both prefer the back side of the tank, they've benefitted from the liquid food doser blowing ROE directly in their direction, and so they get a good dose of food before the others eat everything.

If you had to pick one Halichoeres wrasse for the pest eating capabilities, which one would it be?
All of them?

I have a Melanurus and a Leucoxanthus. I rarely see any pests except the occasional after dark Bristleworm.

So I saw on Blue Zoo Female Diamond Tail, 799.99. 1.5 - 2.5 inches Seems high to me?

As I am getting to the point where I can add fish again I was looking around and the prices for fish online are horrendous. My LFS has great prices but rarely goes for the rarer wrasse. Shoot I haven’t even seen them sell any leopards other than bipartitus and ornatus.

Also I lost my pink streak. Old age I assume but still sad.

Whats on the list then ;)

I may be coming home with a very nice wrasse next week. Maybe not one you’d expect.

Nothing too crazy.
M meleagris
M negrosensis
A neoguinaicus
P filamentosus

My LFS had some indo lubbocks and it was very tempting to get one with the silvery scales edges.

Now… for those who know my collection in the 4’ here’s a quiz;
What 3 wrasses are missing from this collection of photos? P.s. None have passed or been sold on, they’re just a pain to photo.

Also anyone care to elaborate on the mirror trick? Specifically for wrasse. I dont have any aggression at the moment, however im still stocking the tank. A link or page number works too!
