Third time better be the charm

Barely a drive
Do it

OK so I'm not a mean person. But there are some times I read things that make me wonder. Situation and point, thread on here where person is asking if she should remove sand to rinse it because they didn't rinse it when they set her tank up and it's been cloudy. Am I missing something here? Take the sand out to rinse it? Maybe it's the gummy but isn't the sand already rinsed when you put it in the tank with water?

My sand wasn't even rinsed before I added it this move. 24 hours and I could see in fine. 48 hrs it was a little hazy. 5 days and crystal clear. May have been clear sooner, I didn't pay attention.

Welcome home
I'm a weirdo, I rinse sand before I put it in. Garden hose and a bucket until water flows clean. It just speeds things up and I don't end up with dust all over everything in the tank. Better yet barebottom. I really dislike sand.

I guess it wasn't whether to rinse or not that had me perplexed. It was whether you should take the sand out and rinse it and then put it back in. I guess that just sounded silly to me. #blameitonthegummy

Yes, does definitely sound silly.

I completely understood your thought process on that, I was just trying to say : if they give it time it'll sort itself out, because yeah - if there's filter socks or a roller or floss or anything it'll pull any stray particles and help clear it up with the flowing water that already exists in there

The 48 could have easily been bacteria reestablishing as well.

Nothing silly. Taking the sand out to rinse after it's already rinsed with tank water, it's the water that's cloudy, not the sand.

I'm in that conversation. It's very tedious. I'll probably leave soon. #notthegummy

I'm sure to hear a lot of grief out of this one, but its only about a 15 minute drive for me.

Only grief will be if we hear you didn't go... ;)

Totally silly to me. Just put a hob filter for a day or two if it bothers you. Or just have patience and let it do its kind
