If u were you I would discontinue the biopellets now. Leave the skimmer on for a few weeks and see if there's a change. If no change in a couple weeks to a month then unplug the skimmer too. I would bet money that stopping the biopellets will be enough though.
We probably have more experience with this nutrient thing than everyone else out there combined. When I started dosing nitrate there was only 1 thread on r2r about it.Pete and Russ we think so much alike!!

I would also almost bet they could take half the pellets out of the reactor and get some nutrients in there.Or lower skimmer collection time in addition to no pellets
It's because your alkalinity is too high for the amount of nutrients you have in the system
i would say a combination of growth tips and lack of nutrients.
when i see white new tips... only the fast growers like birdsnest can get away with it. that milli doesnt fit the bill.
however!
you know that coral best. is he growing quickly?
Classic!!I would also almost bet they could take half the pellets out of the reactor and get some nutrients in there.
One thing is certain. Dosing nitrate while carbon dosing is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.
Alk of 8-8.5 is too high? Does that mean i should up the feedings or dose nitrates?
It grows fairly rapidly it started as a frag 11/2014 and that picture was taken in december of last year. I feed the fish in the tank relatively heavily as well. Should I try dosing nitrate?
shut that skimmer off for 3 days. trust me. you will need doc.
an indicator of excess doc is when you look at the sump and see that brown stuff where the waterfall meets the edge of the sump. its brown and mucky looking
if you have no buildup. then you do not have an excess ime.
you must keep an ulns.
nitrates 0? get them to 2.
keep alk where it is
Hahaaha oh boy!I would also almost bet they could take half the pellets out of the reactor and get some nutrients in there.

Umm for brown stuff in sump there is none. Super clean actually lol. That is probably because I have no lights. However this is this brown stuff in my overflow.![]()
And okay so no Biopellets either? And no Skimmer or keep skimmer on the half a day because no brown stuff?
what is your nitrate?I actually don't even try to do an ULNS, lol. Should I dose or just feed heavier?
One of the problems with feeding is that you may get elevated po4 beyond the desired amountI actually don't even try to do an ULNS, lol. Should I dose or just feed heavier?
We step into a new world of coral keeping.
@Russ265 is there an article out that shows the relationship of nitrates to zooxanthellae?
