It turns out I’m going to have to brake my number one rule! I strongly believe in the 90 to 120 day rule and contract all new builds with this rule. Simply put, a new system will have all equipment operational except for the lights for 90 to 120 days with no fish and corals. But it turns out that the individual that is inheriting the 90-gallon system needs to pick it up soon, so the 90 has to come down, which means some of the fish and corals will have to be transferred to the 300. A few fish are being donated to the Eddie Soler’s reef tank of rescue. Luckily everything is in balance and all I need to do is monitor everything closely.
I do not like doing this and I know I will see something negative down the line from this situation.

I would like to make this build thread VERY interactive and one way to achieve this is to post a BIG question mark on this photo. I would like to see who can tell me what light is being used on my new 300. I added another photo showing you the PAR readings we got after four hours of burn time. It’s important to me that you are aware that I did not take these readings myself and that I had Marvin Ballard the President of the Florida Marine Aquarium Society take them for me. In this photo you will notice that it’s just one light burning. And, the PAR readings are an indicator as to how bright it is in this tank.

i cant wait to see your new tank...and yes 500 gallon tank is a monster......i have a 125 gallon...6 ft long and myself im only 5 ft tall and use a step stool to get to the bottom....i would love to go larger when i buy a house down here in sc....husbands like helll no...
but i pay for everything for my tank by myself........its my hobby...and i love love love it.....

i think thats the hardest part when setting up a tank....setting the rock just the way you want it....ive seen alot of rock scaping....i would go crazy to have my rock perm together...ive just moved from maine to south carolina 2 months ago and moved my whole tank and its inhabitants with me...setting it up all over again is stressful....
everything made it with me but 3 corals...turned to mush.....but having fun replacing lost things....

OK, seems like that is only one bulb.
The tank is 36” front to back and 72” long, out of which allbut 4” at each end is not light up (36 X 64 Spread)
I am not sure an LEDcan manage that.
