I need to ask …

is running the system without a lip a option ?

any time I’ve considered anything other than simple diy egg crate ( light diffuser )
I think of gas exchange , constantly cleaning salt creep , or even not enough light penetrating through to supply sufficient light for corals .

knock on wood … I haven’t had many carpet surfing fish in awhile .

does fish aggressions trigger faster

Running the system without a lid is an option but it’s a gamble. Fish do jump out from time to time and aggression is one contributor.

With the top lid I purchased gas exchange and light penetration have not been an issue (and I bought the optional solid top). Salt creep has been minimal.

There are only 3-4 vendors that make high quality lids. If you do a search on this forum someone has listed them all along with pros and cons.

You don’t even have to call them if you don’t want. With Top Lids most of it was done online.

The process is simpler than you may think.

I used Top Lids. You can check it out on my build thread. I just posted a video a few days ago. I used them because I wanted my lid to be minimalist.

They were great. A perfect fit. Not cheap.

Have them building a new one for me for the rms mounts. Dealt w new owner personally on design and then the fabricator. They had my old template so it was quick. Repeat customer here.

We are working on this, when we moved from Utah to Florida, Google didn't allow us to just change our address in the backend. They wanted to mail a physical letter to the past location so that wouldn't work lol. We're still working on getting in contact with the landlord there to see if we can work out something.

For now, we are near Tampa Florida, right by Clearwater Beach.
