Trav's 70g CadLights Artisan II

Tank is looking good. I use TM salt and it is great. Looks like you got some great growth and color.

Mine did not come with a return punp. I am using a current usa dc pump at the moment. If it was to go out, I would get a jebao.

Lol I also use a current usa dc return pump as well. Pretty solid pump. I definitely recommend it

Mine came with a return pump. It latest a year. I replaced it with a jebao DCP5000 . I'm only running it at 38%. ALOT of power left for when I do a basement sump

Just scored a great deal on amazon on this same tank. $1,099. Couple of questions. What is that first top off container you first had? Also we you having to clean the glass top too often so went with the Artfully Acrylic instead?

Hey Joel. Nice deal on the tank! The first Ato I had was the Trigger Systems Crystalline 5g. I have the 10g version now. I didn't like the glass lids at all. They block light, prevent gas exchange, and hold in heat.

Just an awesome build! I read every page and took note on everything from skimmer, lights, ATO, lid so hopefully Cadlights will run another Black Friday sale this year and I'll get one, but tank/stand only.

Quite Sharp! Although I wonder if you're getting away from your keep things simple plan from the first post haha. I'll probably end up the same once 2 years in who am I kidding.

Well....problems....

The TM All The Reef has failed me...

My alk was dropping this past week so I started to bump up the dose but couldn't get it to come up. Over the past week or two it has dropped from 10 to 8.2 this morning.

I had time today to inspect everything and what I found was disappointing. First, I found that the dosing line near the exit into the sump was clogged with a chuck of calcium carbonate, uggghhh.

But secondly, and most disturbingly was this.

Yeh, black goo growing on the bottom of the container. Bacteria I suppose? I only had about 200 mL left out of the 1000 mL.

Was TM All For Reef bad for my tank? No, it definitely grew coral.

As seen here.

With the clogged dosing line and bacteria growth inside the bottle, I'm not sure I can recommend this product anymore.

So I poured my @tropic Marin All For Reef into an acrylic container for better dosing and I saw this brown stuff that settled at the bottom of my new container. It’s not a calcium precipitate. I suppose it could be bacteria, but I’m guessing it was introduced into the container.

Other than that I have not had the chemistry swings like you experienced.
I’ll dig some more and see what experiences others might be having.

Happy reefing.

Read every post in your tank progression. I’ve had my brand new Cadlights 70g sitting in a box in my garage for 4 years since I moved. I’m finally cycling the rocks now. So does that ATO container fit without modifications?
