In a fish only system what is the lowest temperature that tropical fish can still do well in? I placed an order from a very good and reputable company and they accidentally sent me a temperate fish. They and I are doing everything possible to not lose the fish, they are worried about shipping it again, and none of my LFS want to take it. That being said I have a fish only system that has a chiller on it so I have the ability to drop the temp as low as needed, but I don't want to do so at the cost of all the other fish to try and keep one. Any advice would be great!

What fish did they send you?

I've kept tropical marines at 72° without issue. Just take a few days to get there.

75 degrees just keep it at a steady temp

And we're acclimating!

Super sweet, the tail is unreal ;Jawdrop

This fish needs to be at around 65F. Also need to stock up on carbon in case if he gets stressed and releases toxin.

I always run carbon anyway, and the system he's going in has an oversized skimmer. I'm dropping the temp to 71F and hopefully he will do ok, he was caught in Australia.

He is a rare fish. I haven't seen anything like this in the past decade. I hope everything works out for you and the fish

I haven't tried feeding yet, I put the acclimation box in the tank yesterday evening before the lights went out, I'll release him today and we'll see, I'll post again after I release him and try to get some pics. He is very active though. Water temp down to 73 yesterday and I'll start going for 71 today

Beautiful fish. Just to clarify these fish are not rare. They just aren't ordered in very much because they are for cold water tanks.
It needs tank temp of 60-65, are you going to drop your tank temp down that low?

Wow never seen anything like that in any cold water displays. What a beautiful fish and a section of this hobby I've never looked into.
Good luck! you could find homes for the rest of you fish and go cold water from here on out.
