The purple firefish i got from TSM Aquatics is doing fantastic! He eats like a pig, more than anyone else in my tank. He went into hiding the 1st day but after that he is always out and about looking for food. Very peaceful too. All my fish is super peaceful. 2 clowns, 1 purple firefish , and 1 yellow banded possum wrasse. All of them is fat and healthy.

Great to hear. Something is def wrong with mine. I will have to check out TSM aquatic as well Ty

Could today be the day that I break 8.3 PH? Topped out at 8.26 yesterday. Currently at 8.23 and rising ....my PH normally rises until 9pm kalk doser comes on at 6pm hoping to it make to the 8.3 club today!

New gear on the way. Nyos 120 skimmer. I do not think there is any more gear i need get other than the Trident lol . I can manually test and let the dosers do the rest until Christmas. Its all fish and corals from here on out.

well, looks like i know why my alk and calcium has been depleting. Got coraline growing in the tank. Its beginning to grow over plastic pieces like power heads and return nozzles. I can see it slowly covering my rocks into a deeper shade of purple. Pods are everywhere as you can see the white spots. Anywhere there is film algae , there is pods. Chaeto is dark green and has double or triple in size. Chaeto Gro indeed works.

New arrivals added today. More variety of zoas , a ricordea , monti, and a bleached out acro The acro didn't survive the shipping. I still see a polyp or two so maybe it can come back.

I thought my Acro would perish as it was bleach white when it arrived. Low and behold the polpys are out and colors is coming back. I sure hope it makes it.

I think i lost 3-4 Zoa polyps killing the aiptasia yesterday with F Aiptasia. Do you guys leave the stuff on the frag or scrape it off after some time.

Looking good, nice coral pics, don't think I've seen zoas like those with the green center and long red lashes before. Following along for the trident, I've been eyeing the apex myself lately..

Ah that coral. Its my favorite right now. Very beautiful . Orange Explosion Zoa is what its called. I got from a Reefer selling here on the forum classifieds named Chad Chapman. Highly recommended. Not sure if he grows these under LED's or T5's but he told me he grows his SPS sticks with T5's. It looks completely different in my tank.

Is the Nyos Skimmer worth the hype? I'm guessing its small size helps conserve space in the sump?

Yes it is. It's very quiet. It's slightly smaller than the Reef Octopus . Very happy with it.

Just when i thought i had all the gear for my reef, I am now looking into getting an Ozone generator for the Nyos 120. I can't cram another gadget into my cabinet as i am completely out of space but the ozone generator is small enough .

Just came back from a weekend trip. Finally made the 8.3 PH club while away ..no humans so no Co2 lol
Can't believe it climbed all the way to 8.35. My fish were almost angry at me for skipping their meal last night and this morning lol. They are spoiled anyways getting only the best of foods. Copepods are everywhere. Going to try a Mandarin as the show piece fish.

A reef tank is gonna be a reef tank. lol There's always something new that pops up. Good and bad.

The bad: bubble algae hitched on zoa frags and starting to grow on my frags and power head.

considerations: get an emerald crab to crush the early stages , I dont like crabs as they have been hit or miss in my previous tank .

Or scrape the bubble algae off myself and hope it resides. I think i'm going with the crab. lol

The yellow coris is checking things out. The leopard wrasse went straight into the sandbed ....might be a couple of days before he'll come out but who knows.
