Tuan's Red Sea 200XL Reef

Hello Tuan,

since installing the Reefmat, have you noticed a considerable decrease in skimmate? I have the bubble magus curve 5 elite and get a very dry skim now as the working depth of my skimmer is 9-11 inches. Our sumps are 8 at best. I have it on max and it’s going to be the best it’s going to get with my Reefmat. I may look into a small footprint low height req. skimmer eventually to replace but I do want a drain port in cup. Any suggestions on a skimmer that has to qualities feel free to let me know and also your experience w skimmer after Reefmat etc. Thx man! Keep up the updates always looking forward to the progress

Yes, skimmate production was reduced drastically. The Reefmat is very efficient at removing waste before it breaks down. I have increased my feeding as a result. I also added more fish for an increased bio load. I have 9 fish in my 200XL and i have to dose nitrate and phos to keep them up.

My skimmate production is normal now. collection cup is half way filled with dark skimmate after a week.

Perfect thanks for that info. Yeah before the Reefmat I was very OCD about how much food gets wasted as to make sure parameters stay safe. But now I feel I can really start using that auto feeder and let it ride. My nitrates and phos were non existent and I have 10 fish myself. Wish I had tested before the mat to compare

2 months growth. Sps encrusted very nicely onto the frag rack.

Getting ready to build my aquascape with the TBS premium live rocks that's been curing for 4 months. I made these feet from pink Marco mortar. I used a ice cube tray to make the feet. These should work nicely.

No issues whatsoever. You can even go thicker .
Thanks for the reply! I just bought the Reefer 170 and the MP10 is a good size for it. But realized the glass is thicker now. So thanks for the confirmation. The box for the aquarium and stand are in my car now. So heavy, just waiting for my brother to come by tomorrow to bring it all in.

Excited to start. Great thread by the way!

It’s nice Can we see a picture from the back side to see how you connected the plumbing ?

The connection in the back is standard from stock. Currently away on a vacation but can take some pics when back. I followed the instructions from the manual

Okay thanks and I just bought a Red Sea reefer 170 off some guy, but was looking to put the reef Mat roller in there and I was wondering if I needed to take out all the slides in the sump

If you got the 170 G1 then you need to modify you sump to make the reefmat fit. The g2’s have removable filter sock baffle . I believe there is a YouTube video on how to mod your sump

I Believe I have the g1 since I have all the dividers but I’m not sure if I have to remove all of them
