So in theory, being I stopped carbon dosing, it should just eventually go away?

Breakthecycle2, mine went away when I quit carbon dosing. It has come back now that I've restarted even though I'm only dosing about 45cc of vinegar/day.

I'm going to stop and let it go away again and then I'm going to add two 8"x4" MarinePure ceramic blocks to my sump where I dose and see if the increased surface area there will decrease the bacteria in the DT and lessen the problem.

That would be the hope, especially combined with manual removal.

I'd stop all organics, including Fuel.

Curious that it smells bad and skimmate is black. That suggests hydrogen sulfide is being made somewhere.

Do you use GFO? That might help if hydrogen sulfide is getting into the water.

So just an update. I started dosing Dr. Tim's refresh and the rate of 5ml's per 10 gallons, every other day for 14 days. It has definetly cleared out 90% of it. I still have some on the rocks in the fuge and the backwall, but all rocks are almost clear of it.
