I was curious, what all are some not super common reefing products that you have used or recommend? We always see people mentioning big name brands, but what are some smaller companies that you like. For example, I like PNS probio and products, but they are not as common as bacterial products from big name companies. This could be lights, food, additives, etc.

I used spectracide stump remover for nitrate and prestone driveway heat for calcium. I eventually went away from both because of the fear of contamination from the factory, but I never had an issue with using either product.

There is also the Bayer insecticide as a coral dip but I think everyone knows about that.

Citric acid in bulk pouches for cleaning pumps, equipment, etc. Many brands. Food grade and a fraction of the price compared to the stuff sold at reefing supply stores.

It’s SO much cheaper that it causes me to clean more, which in turn makes my tank better. I highly, HIGHLY recommend.

DampRid for Calcium.
I use those buckets of "Damp Rid" when I do water changes. I put 5 or 6 of them in my tank and they dry up all the old water. Then I add new water.

I was only wanting to do a small water change so I only dumped one bucket of Damp Rid in my tank. I don't see any difference in my water level but my tank is now really cloudy...what did I do wrong?

I’ve been using the entire Fauna Marin line of products with outstanding results.
I find it pretty curious it is very rarelly mentioned around here…

Those are some gorgeous corals!

I personally use some of the Brightwell products, but love using lots of live phytoplankton of as many varieties as possible, as many varieties of live copepods as I can, and live PNS bacteria. I truly believe biological diversity is key to a healthy reef. When I started my reef I added PNS, Microbacter 7 from Brightwell, Stability from Seachem, Biospira from Instant Ocean, and PNS sauce, along with a handful of sand and some rubble from a local's 26 yr old reef tank that was started with all fiji live rock back in the day
