Uncommon reefing products

Miliput for attaching corals.. works better than any "reef epoxy", for fraction of price.....

Extra long carbon fiber tweezers from aliexpress

No rinsing and drying to prevent rust, no washing hands before and after getting wet hands, no breaking corals when dropping the heavy steel version

So much easier to actually do small maintenance tasks

Those are some gorgeous corals!

I personally use some of the Brightwell products, but love using lots of live phytoplankton of as many varieties as possible, as many varieties of live copepods as I can, and live PNS bacteria. I truly believe biological diversity is key to a healthy reef. When I started my reef I added PNS, Microbacter 7 from Brightwell, Stability from Seachem, Biospira from Instant Ocean, and PNS sauce, along with a handful of sand and some rubble from a local's 26 yr old reef tank that was started with all fiji live rock back in the day
I do the same. Bacteria is our friend. Just not sure anyone source has all of them.

use the 27mm vials for testing as they fit perfectly in the mag stirrer BRS sells. Just add a 15mm magnetic stir bar.

Consistent 5ml samples in seconds. Goes up to 20ml in 5ml increments. Perfect for Hanna. Consistency what I’m looking for versus being precise.

Better known in aquaculture but the hobby used their TDS meters often especially with RODI

I think you're correct. The vast majority of reef bacteria (and bacteria in general) have never been cultured in the lab much less produced commercially for the aquarium hobby. Most of the stuff we see other than the usual nitrifiers (traditional cycling products) just contain Bacillus or maybe Lactobacillus; far fewer products contain anything very exotic.

Perfect for acclimatizing new arrivals or preparing small batches of salt. Have also used it to transport fish from the LFS

365nm best for seeing the true fluorescence and adding artificial purples. Great as finding green algae too. Lights up red. Coraline is deep purple. Pods look like white dust. Wouldn’t shine it directly at dish’s eye or self.
