Do it, do it, do it! ;Smuggrin

Your mini tank is looking good! I really like all that macro algae. Do you feed the tank/corals at all? Maybe there's a nutrient problem that's affecting coral growth?
Tank still looks good. How are you topping it off and what are you using? How much and how often do you do water changes? The trumpet and shroom loom good as well as gsp. I have a very hardy sps. And it seems to be doing well. The beach bum looks like it maybe getting to much light. So many turn it down to the 2nd brightest if it begins to bleach. The bare spot on the sps is where a piece broke off.

How long has the sps been in there? And what is it?

Its been in about 5 days. I Fragged it from my other piece which I have had I believe around 2 years. I was told either walt disney or orange passion. I still dont know as I brought out really nice colors but not big enough to really tell. But this thing is tough. In the beginning almost lost it but now it is hard to kill and easy to bring back. It gets really nice coloration when lighting is right.

I'm interested to see how it does. I'm also considering a few sps pieces in this mini tank, but I'll have to see how it all plays out. I'm focusing on attempting to upgrade / add on to the mechanics of the tank to start.

I add water about every other day I keep the light setting on the 2nd setting I change the water maybe monthly I add phyto and tiger pods on occasion since I culture them I had sexy shrimp and a war goby but went on vacation and the one watching let it all die

Try doing weekly 100 percent water changes or just increase when you do them. With picos I always just do a 100% water change if something goes off. If that doesnt correct it then I know there is something in the tank I need to remove.

I don't have anything in there other then a few tiny snails so I don't wanna change the water to frequent that's how the Yumas and dragon's breath has done so well as far as other corals it's the light and hard to get good placement in such a tiny spot

I got my tank, but I can't do unboxing, lol. There's never a quiet minute in my house!

My prep will just include inspecting for damage, although first look everything looks perfect. Next I need to test the pump and I wanted to add water and measure the total volume for myself.

I also ordered rock rubble, so I planned on tossing a few rocks into my DT to get to seeding with bacteria and copepods.

I have a tiny heater I wanted to use too, so after I know the volume of water, I was going to find a container that will hold that volume and add the heater with a temp probe, just to get an idea of this heater will be too strong or not. We'll have to see.....

Remeber that the pump and although light is led, they will add heat as well. Good idea on preseeding.

Yes, I might be able to run the pump and light on my test container to get a more accurate test for heat. I'm thinking since we are going into cold months getting the heat figured out will be my best bet for long term success.

I got the fragzone rubble rocks. They are perfect for a tiny scape. And I'm really surprised at how many came in that small box, I can't even get them back in the box, it's magic, lol. I also picked up a stick of putty, to secure my scape together. I have loose rocks in my main tank, but this one being so small I don't want to disturb the scape later on, so I'm attaching them first. I'll probably play with those today (I'm waiting on a coral shipment so this will give me something to do rather than look out the window all day)

Feel free to send me pics of scape and corals you get.

He he, I ordered 11 goodies from aquaSD on their last live sale, all will be in my main tank until I feel the mtc is stable enough to support them. Then I'll choose a few to go in the tiny tank. They are supposed to be delivered today, I'm so stinkin' excited!!

I have a bunch of pulsing xenia that I'm planning to add first, since it's so forgiving.

Edit: order came in!! Everything looks AMAZING!

Anyone get their tank in yet? Like to see some unboxings or preps for contest.
Not yet, I'll absolutely do an unboxing or a series of photos once I get mine!

I've already cemented quite a bit of my scape together, but I'm waiting to reveal it until it's finished. :)

I'm glad you mentioned seeding the scapes for theMCTs!T I was just about to make a post letting everyone know that was fair game while we wait!

Sorry, only Mini Complete Tanks for this contest.

I also ordered goodies from their sale!! I was SO excited when I saw everything I had been putting in my cart get slashed for the weekend sale hahaha
I'm hoping most of the goodies will go into the MCT, but I'm going to see how large everything is, and how it fits into the tank. Specifically, I was going for a couple mini carpets in the mini tank if they'll fit. I'm also making some caves to keep sun corals.

Sun corals and mini capets will look awesome to. Seeing so many people starting to get the move on makes this exciting.

Thanks, I'm hoping it all comes rogether haha
I'm really looking forward to seeing all the unique things people come up with!
On the equipment side, I've ordered all the components to wire my own mini auto top off unit. The pieces won't be here for another month or two, but I have time to plan between now and then. I'm also going to try to make a DIY pico skimmer. I just haven't decided if I'll try to fit a little fuge behind the display yet to hold the extra equipment or not. I'd just need something that's a handful of ounces, but haven't found the right container for the space I'm using or know if it's really necessary to go through making an overflow and a return and everything.

You could remove the bottom sump' setup a tiny stand that will fit a bit larger sump with clearance. Get a glass or plastic clear tube and make something like the mamme skimmer just smaller. Just need air pump to run. You can use airline tubing and glue to seal under tank to prevent leak as return and drain line. I would use a larger tube for drain tube. Have a control valve to stop backflow from drain or pump when you need to pull pump out.

I don't want to remove the sump it comes with, just add on, but I'm definitely going to use a check valve / ball valve to control flow and attempt to avoid catastrophe lol

Yeah, I'm going with the super simple pvc and airstone skimmer! I just bought the tiniest pvc I could find haha

Could you elaborate on the tiny skimmer? :)
