They put a box of fish/corals I bought in the freezer. Corals made it, fish did not. :(

Oh my word! How dumb do you have to be to do something like that. Could they not read the "Live Animals" label on the box?!

Where I live, UPS is actually better than FEDEX. Tough time of year for reliable transportation though - whether packages or passengers.

Because I order most stuff online, my UPS guy and I are on good terms. He sets my stuff aside in his truck so it doesn't get broken, and I tip him well around the holidays.

What is actually the worst for me is USPS. I regret so much that Amazon switched to them from UPS. I pay for Prime service, 2 day shipping, ect... For deliveries on Sunday it comes from a different post office with drivers from all over. More than a dozen times my package was "Out For Delivery" but suddenly could not be delivered due to "weather" on an 80 degree, sunny day. And it's only Amazon packages that are delivered Sundays. They don't seem to get that I pay for that service and delivery privelage. They're also the worst as far as lost packages abd broken items. They took on too much when they signed that deal with Amazon.

I have literally watched the usps person drive to my mailbox then just keep on going instead of them getting out to deliver my package. I’ve even tried to run after them to ask about it. Then an hour later package status changes to “delivery attempted, no one home”. On packages that say no signature ok to leave. LoL

In a fun twist, my two fish shipments got delayed at the UPS air hub in Kentucky this morning. They made it to Philadelphia and then on to my local hub in West Chester by 9:45A. Got a few notices from UPS... first that they wouldn't get here by 10:30, but would get here today. Then, they'll get here but not until the end of the day. Then, they may not get delivered today.

All the while, UPS.com shows them sitting at the depot in West Chester. I get in touch with UPS and said, I'll just come there and get the boxes. They said fine so I started my 45 minute drive there. I get there to find out they put them on a truck and they're heading to my house.:mad: I needed to call and cancel my customer pickup or he won't deliver them. After some fun with the UPS automated system, I think it is fixed.

I'm now back home waiting for the delivery to hopefully arrive.

I had a USPS guy who was doing that on a regular enough basis that I finally started driving to the post office to complain to the postmaster every time it happened. After about five times of this, I had a new USPS guy -- we get along great, and he gets a nice gift card every Xmas.

Got my delivery. Driver was very apologetic about the runaround I got. He’s always very nice. All fish and inverts survived. Phew!

I didn’t read all the post...but in the northeast I feel like ups stinks for over night packages. On the other hand fedex express is on point over here!

Not for me ..have an order from battlecorals sitting in Jamaica queens .. was over nighted made it to Newark NJ at 530 am . You would think being only hour and half from where I live on Long Island it would make it here . So I’m waiting around for updates . Makes it to Jamaica Queens at 1130 ok great that’s about an hour to me . Proceeds to sit there all day even to this minute 953 pm it hasn’t moved . Suppose to pick it up at 10am tomorrow guess we will see .. I’m expecting everything to arrive DOA

I have had all good experiences so far... except one. I did order a declivis Butterfly from a fellow reefer. I’m not sure what he was thinking but he said he brought it to a “shipping depot” and sent it out. It happened to go USPS and it was sent to the local post office. I didn’t get a letter in the mail until a week after it shipped. I went and picked up my $500 fish in a bag of murky water. Needless to say. That post office worker hasn’t liked me since.

I sold a $250 skimmer a year back on fleabay and shipped it via USPS. Never again. It arrived to my buyer in a million pieces and the box looked like it was dragged behind the truck. You better bet I was in the Post Office the same day filing my insurance claim.

Literally just bought a skimmer that arrived shattered. Did USPS claim go smoothly

Well, if you used PayPal, as a buyer you get to file a claim with them and get a refund. The seller usually files the shipping claim and I got my claimed value back in about 7 business day.

1 week ago I had a clam and a coral for Saturday delivery by UPS. The clam showed up at 8am while the coral did not.

From 1pm to 8pm I used the UPS tracking feature to watch my coral bounce around the neighborhoods within 3 miles of my house.

Around 8:30pm, as Fred Flintstone’s quittin time whistle echoed around in my imagination, I watched my coral hop back on the interstate and then stop 30 minutes later at the UPS distribution center. I called UPS and was routed to a call center where I was assured my package would be delivered tonight. And then at 2am I got the reschedule.

The coral was not delivered until Monday, 72 hours after shipment. The water was 60 degrees [emoji15]. I tried my best and warmed slowly and then drip acclimated but now 7 days later half the coral is dead. I plan to file my credit claim with LiveAquaria on Monday but I still feel bad for the animal.

I love this thread.
So, I know For a fact the 2nd,3rd week of January the snow storms delayed flights from east coast going to west coast.
This info only applies to Fedex. Fedex doesn’t cover package delays for storm delays. I definitely would make friends with your driver. It goes along way, trust me. Ask your driver what time he’s usually in your area. That way you can be home or make arrangements to pick it up at the station. With that being said. I would always, always, always pickup packed at Fedex station, or Fedex Office, then to have a box full of live animals in a truck for god knows how long. In my area fedex office is open till 10pm while fedex station closes at 5pm.
Also Amazon is the worse at packing boxs.
I’m really happy to hear that you folks like fedex over anyone else the most on this thread. To the original thread starter, your driver sucks. Next time I home you see him, just be nice to him or her and I will imagine your boxs will be better placed. BDC80AD1-9B13-4B23-9CD8-4B3FD7B82DB3.jpeg

This must be a regional thing.

UPS in my town is always on time or early. FedEx here is either late or can't make the delivery. In which case 2 hours after the delivery time I'll get a notification asking me to pick up the package at their facility.
I guess the other weird thing is the drivers here knock twice and jump back into the truck. No interaction ever.

Yeah, I can see that happening frequentl. I wish fedex gave employees more time to make direct contact with all its costumers.
