I dunno. That's a pretty good lens there.
I don't see any on the stalks though. That's wher they attach.
Have you seen any adults on the glasss or colonies?
The adults glow the color of what zoa the eat so you might see them with the blues on
The big reason to know of course what bug it is the choice of poison.
Spiders are stupid small and you'd use interceptor.
I need to get a better lens, badly. Here's the best I can do, I can only get up to 55mm with the lenses I have. I think you can tell which one appears to have been chewed on. That's open and missing all of the lashes.![]()
I'm overrun by aiptasia in the tank. They're everywhere. I tried berghia but they didn't help and I'm convinced they died. I thought aiptasia at one point. This is also happening to a colony that doesn't have aiptasia near it too though. The aiptasia problem isn't new too. I've been considering getting a couple peppermint shrimp.OOOOHH!!! A little closer look I found your problem.... Theres a bunch of tiny aptasia around those zoas buddy. They are getting whacked. Gotta take care of those. Get some berghias.
Not definitely eaten sometimes they pull them in like that. Next week those same skirts may look perfectly fine. IME zoa nudi feed on the trunks not the skirts and the zoas will shrink sometimes still staying open but sometimes closing up too. Best to look in the dark with a flash light to find them.

Sometimes the aptasia are really hard to see. Check the other colony that you say doesn't have aptasia. Check with a macro lens, and I bet you find some tiny ones where the zoas are irritated. Check multiple times too because of they happened to be tucked into their little hidy hole at the time your checking you'll never see them.
Some zoas will tolerate aptasia for a while but eventually aptasia will win.
About the berghia, so you have any wrasse or peppermint shrimp already in the tank? Those are the main berghia preditors. How many did you start with? How big is the tank? What kind of fish do you have?
Only option for them is
Filefish - didn't work for me & might eat your corals.
Butterfly - maybe worked for me but still have them in the system and they pop up now and then but never get big. I assume the Butterfly just doesn't see the tiny ones.
Peppermint shrimp - almost always don't work but try from different vendors might get lucky eventually. Never worked for me to the point of eradication.
Berghias - have to work but have to start with the right amount which is expensive. Didn't work for me as i have too many berghia predators, didn't start with enough, and started them in the wrong place.

@jsker that makes me want another try with the filefish. The one i had was ora tank bred so maybe that's why mine didn't work.
Has yours gone after anything he's not supposed to?
he is happy
He even eats the nori now with the tanys. Just look at ORA and the matted filefish is new to them. Mine is real dosel and comes to the front of the tank when I come into the room. I have had him for a year. In the past year I have had a aptasia pop up and a day or so later the aptasia is gone. I do feed frozen in small amount twice a day.
