Hey guys, i came across a few articles for dosing vita c for fish health and as it also sort of anti ich.

There is plain vita c powder available, howmuch do I add??

What type of Vitamin C do you have available? tablets or powder. I would suggest 250mg. If you can get Brightwells vitamain C, this is what I use, I add a teaspoon to my weekly batch of food and feed it all week.

Powdered

I would say a 1/8 of a teaspoon for the hole system. Just a little bit. Back in the day I would cut a 500mg tablet in half and toss it into the DT and let the tablet dissolve twice a week;)

vitamin C is relatively hard to overdose, but to be on safe side I suggest you don't dose more than 1g/50 gal. It might boost the immunity of fish which will help ich, but it has no direct effect on ich.
I prefer adding selcon or other food enrichers, as they have all the necessary vitamins needed for the fish.

Back in the day, Maracyn 1 & 2 antibiotics (SW version) contained "B complex vitamins" which they claimed would stimulate metabolism to improve appetite. It turned the water yellow, but also seemed to help greatly counteract appetite suppression which sometimes accompanies antibiotic treatment. In general, fish seemed to handle Maracyn 1 & 2 (with the B complex vitamins) better than any antibiotic I've used since.

Maracyn 1 & 2 sold nowadays does not contain any vitamins. @jsker how would one go about dosing "B complex vitamins" (or is it Vitamin B Complex?) in conjunction with antibiotics?

@Humblefish The same way using 250g to start with twice a week. See how the system reacts an increase dosage for larger systems:)

Thanks, I will be experimenting with combining antibiotics + vitamins in the future. Can I dose 250mg of Vitamin B Complex PLUS 250mg of Vitamin C? Or should I stick with one or the other in QT?

Yes sir, you can. Unlike humans, the vitamin are in the water and it is good not to over saturate dosing.

FYI the powdered vitamin C in great for stretching the shelf life of guacamole:rolleyes:;)

Till the expiration date, sealed in the original container at room temperature.

It will be in a loose packing, no expiery

Jar with screw on top and I would date it when you purchased and toss it in year and a half after date of purchase.
