Vitamin C dosing in qt and reef?

Yes sir, you can. Unlike humans, the vitamin are in the water and it is good not to over saturate dosing.

FYI the powdered vitamin C in great for stretching the shelf life of guacamole:rolleyes:;)

Thank you. Maybe combining antibiotics with vitamins is what's needed to more effectively combat bacterial infections.

So as for final dosing,

250mg for my 130gallon first week ( once a week)

Then 500mg weekly?

So, does dosing vitamin C into the DT just help with fish immine systems? Haven't heard of this before
Its not only beneficial for fish, people dose it in reef tanks and report success with corals. Its famous technique for zoas to get them to open. Also its reported that it improves coloring of corals.

For fish its also been reported that it enhances the colors of fish, it detoxifies the liver, also it helps remove heavy metals from the fish organs (believed to boost immunity), building the scales, etc... Many articles and thread about it being dosed in FO or reef tanks.

Also most food enrichers have it as main ingredient along with Vitamin B12.

Sounds like a plan, but if dosing directly to the water make sure to monitor pH as vitamin C might cause it to drop. If this happens, you will need to compensate by adding buffer solution to raise it back up to correct levels.

I have not seen the PH drop in the time I have been using it.

Just to be on the safe side. After all, vitamin c is acidic (ph 2.4) and probably dosing a bit more will alter the ph especially with low level of alkalinity.

Iv been reading about selcon being the best.. is that true?

Thats subjective since several products on the market perform the same thing and I believe are also as good as selcon. It is probably the most common, and one of the best.
I compared the prices, and a 60ml bottle treats 6000gallons, so its more cheaper too. So can i buy this and also dose vitamin c.

Hi guys, finally got 500gms vitamin c

How much Vita c I add in a 15g total tank water volume qt? As there won't be coral and live rocks. Also there will be meds.

With all the meds you are planning to run I would avoid adding too much, probably 100-200 mg

Just a share on Vita c for velvet from reef keeping.. I guess we must try this..
