Warning: Use Vibrant at your own risk

The stuff was bound very quickly. It will bind to anything, not just algae. I have no idea how water changes or media could change what was in the tank. It will probably break down eventually, but what is in there is in there. What has been absorbed and disrupted cell processes is going to happen. The compound that has bound to non-organic things might unbind and float around looking for another negatively charged surface, but this is not probably a huge amount.

I think that you are just going to have to wait. ...damage done.

Thanks for the info. This tank is almost 10 years old and has plenty of live rock. Are you advising taking rock from a different tank and adding to my problem tank? Wouldn't there still be Vibrant in the system and it would render the new live rock useless?

I know that this isn't popular on this thread, but I used Vibrant to get rid of Dino's a couple of years ago. It took about 6-8 weeks, but the Dino's never came back. Can I be sure that it was the Vibrant that got rid of them versus them just going away? No, but I did not have any negative results and once the Dino's were gone, all of my coral took off. I did purchase my Vibrant directly from @UWC.

I thought in your thread it looked like you stopped using vibrant because the tank was going downhill and everyone, even back then, agreed that’s a good call.

If you are talking about the thread from 3 years ago, yes, I did stop dosing Vibrant for a while. That thread had nothing to do with Dino's. There were other issues at play in that thread. For a 3 year update, every one of the corals in that thread is alive today and I have to frag most to keep them in check.

I had bubble algae ( valonia ) in my tank and I used vibrant for one month. My tank now is completely bubble algae free.

How vibrant works is really a mystery for me

Cheers
I honestly don't care what is in it. I have used it for years....YEARS and I have never lost a single coral or a single livestock. I will continue to use whenever the need arises.

Hello Everyone,

As everyone knows Vibrant has been wildly popular. We stand by Vibrant 100% and we are not taking these accusations lightly.

At this time, we have samples of Vibrant out to Labs for independent certified testing dating back to batches from 2016 to current to compare them to see if there have been any changes in the production of Vibrant.

We are hoping to have these results back by the end of this week and we will post everything that we have.

I know this post will not please everyone, but we want to have as much information as possible for the community before we make any official statements.

Thank you,
Jeff

End of week. It doesn’t take that long to falsify data.

Curious - when was this post from UWC (date). They must mean the end of next week?

In any case - I guess the fair thing would be to analyze the data once its back?

Monday. And no their responses / broken promises /lies from the last Thread lost them any right to fairness.

No one is happy with some of the responses. I agree with you. But - there will be plenty of time to assess the veracity of their 'independent analysis' JMHO

Really? I guess I come from a whole different planet.

If a manufacturer lies to me about a product identity, I will never use it regardless of whether it is useful or not. I will never use or recommend any product by that manufacturer, or support them in any way.

Some things are just way more important to me than whether a product "works".

Maybe that comes from my focus on science. Truth is paramount.

Not to mention, whether or not it works is irrelevant to the issue and discussion at hand.

They said that they were hoping to have the results back by the end of the week and would post the data once they get it. I think that @MnFish1 is being reasonable by suggesting we wait until they post their data. Now, that doesn't mean that they have an indefinite amount of time to post, that wouldn't be reasonable.

Yes, let's give the benefit of the doubt to the company that lied about what is in their product multiple times in multiple threads and has changed their lies to other lies when it suited them. Let's wait to see the results from unknowable samples they sent for analysis to an unknown lab. Yes.

Were I a betting man (which I am not), and assuming they sent their sample for NMR, my money would be on an NMR spectrum that will show a lot more noise (i.e. - many more peaks surrounding the region of interest that will be similar).

Moreover, the story isn't even believable - a aquarium maintenance company developed a bacterial product that miraculously did xxx, yyy, and zzz. BUT, that that bacteria needed constant dosing because it doesn't replicate.... Then it became that the bacteria used produce a natural algaecide but that there were no actual bacteria in the product. And now apparently it seems their notion might be that the company producing it for them (because they were unable to scale up) may be where the blame lies... Does this sound like the plot of a 1980's Mexican soap opera?

These guys have PhDs and a lab at their disposal?

Could always provide photos of your display so people can see what sort of corals you keep.

So... You'll continue to use a product from a company that lied to you about what it was when you can buy the same exact thing for less money from another company that was honest about what it is?

Lets say you and a friend go to a restaurant and get 100% angus burgers. Your friend gets food poisoning, but yours is literally the best burger you've had, doesn't matter to you it made your friend sick, you're full and happy. Well, then an expose comes out that you in fact ate dog meat, as that is what the restaurant was serving. Like I said, it's the best burger you've had, are you still happy to go eat at that place again and eat the meal that was great for you but made your friend sick, even when they lied about its contents? You don't care that you were told it was beef because it was a delicious meal that filled you up?

Beyond the numerous problems this additive has caused peoples tanks, the bold faced lying and false advertising is mostly what people are upset/frustrated with.

Has anyone thought of the possibility that vibrant contains an amount of xxxx that is not reportable to the EPA? BTW - If it contains an algaecide - it, by my reading and posting in the other thread - that as a pesticide - and should be reported. Frankly - I still don't get how/why chemiclean (which no-one is complaining about their labeling - and I think there are many reports of negative experience) does not need to list an antibiotic as one of their ingredients (which is what has been widely posted/discussed).
