Waterbox? or Red Sea Reefer?

Love my Waterbox. I don’t have any experience with Red Sea but I’ve heard so many horror stories about seam failures on Red Sea tanks.

I presently have an Innovative Marine SR60 AIO and a FijiCube 22 gallon. Got the Fiji partly for size/dimensions. If I’d had a little more room probably would’ve gotten an IM tank.

Sump or no? Stand needed?

Can get an aqueon tank for a fraction of the price. Stands can be built.

If looking for a package deal that looks top notch glasscages.com is highly recommended.

Also, check availability. Some places have been on back order.

As someone who has had a tank for a number of years the setup is the fun part. Don't rob yourself with a package deal. Just my 2 cents.

This so this. I'm against package deals due to the proprietary equipment that goes with it & the inheriant problems (just read the forums). Outside of AIO's they are worthless imho and overpriced for what you get.

I saw Aquaforest Oceanguard and current generation Red Sea Reefer at Aquashella. If I was looking at something like a Red Sea Reefer (complete plumbing and sump, wood stand, rimless) I would get the Aquaforest. The silicone seams looked better, stand seemed better built. However for my next tank I will probably go for an aluminum stand e.g. Cade.

Lots of differing opinions here. Best to do your own research before making a decision. Most of us are perfectly happy with "package deals". They fit nicely between the DIY everything tank and the high end custom tanks.

I'm going to say WaterBox and ProClear will probably give you the best value. I don't suggest a Red Sea. There's like a 5% chance of it eventually leaking, and while that chance is small, it's enough for me.

There are other brands like Innovative Marine, CADE, and Elos, but those are more expensive with only slightly higher quality. I include IM in this list because although they may be cheapish, the price of ordering a complete tank is a little high for me.

If I needed to recommend a single brand, it'd be ProClear. The value's pretty good, and the quality is excellent. The stand is aluminum, and I get the sense that you could put a truck on it and it would hold. It also comes with a sump included and easy plumbing, no glue required.

I've had my waterbox 100.3 for about 3 yrs now and love it. No problems with it whatsoever. I've heard about some tanks from redsea not holding up as well but honestly, it can happen to any brand.

Definitely the build quality. If you have a LFS who carries the name brands, then take a look at those tanks. I'm sure one of the tanks will stand out to you.
