Wondering what is new with your reef lately?

I’m fighting a little cyano.

I just siphoned a bunch of cyano out and cleaned up some gha on zoas hoping they will open back up soon!

Also Duncan and red Goni are doing great and growing (will get pics tomorrow)

Sorry to be a downer but sadly my 1+ year squamosa died yesterday. I had to shake out like 30 nassarious snails out of its dead body in the morning. Although no evidence, I suspect pyramillid (or whatever the heck they are called) snails. Looked gaped for 2 days and dead on day 3.

*sigh* this hobby.

Yep. I was on vacation with the family during the holidays and the power went out at my house. Unfortunately I wasn't able to communicate with my controller after this so I had no idea what was going on with my tank. Now I can pull up this camera view and see if the lights are on and the pumps are running via video. Just checked it here at work!

Just added a few fish to my newest system 5 min ago, added a couple anthias, couple bengais a magnificent fairy wrasse, fire fish and my skunk clowns in the sump… fresh out of qt of course after 2 months! Just celebrating now!

Where are the pics? Love to see the magnificent fairy wrasse!
 
I think we have diatoms but not entirely sure cause we are new to the salt world. If anyone has recommendations for a clean up crew I'm all ears!
 
my nirvanas are dying ;(. dealing with metals in my water(nickel and copper are trending up on my recent ICP)

isn’t that just for copper? i was told GFO also leeches that from time to time so it could be the cause for me.. unless the algae wafers i’m feeding have some in it
