What’s your weakness - BE HONEST THREAD

I’ve been off and on for 20 years and I can say that lighting is my biggest weakness. I don’t own a PAR meter. I run T5s and LED, but have no idea about how that affects my reef. I feel like a champ in the area of nutrition and parameters but I’m a loser when it comes to lighting.

What area do you wish to improve in?

I’ve been there. Chasing parameters and such. I’ve learned to let things be.

I tend to tinker as well. When I ran into problems in my second year, it was because I was constantly looking to add gear, do things better, learn/implement new methods. Once I went back to simple basics the problems stopped. Hands off approach and KISS from here on out.

When I have an issue that I need to solve or improve in my tank, A lot of the time I don’t give my solutions long enough time to take effect before I get antzy and want to try something else

Yup hear you, for me it’s an excuse to add another gadget lol - it’s an addiction. The sump on my old barely had any water in from all the reactors and things haha

My reefing weakness has to do with moving and not testing as many parameters as I probably should.
Other than that, it’s slugs, sour milk and the dentist. They’re my kryptonite.

This... I don't test nearly as often as I should and this has lead to issues.

I have two major weakness (or is that 3 now). Shiny objects syndrome and not thinking ahead.
Lots of used gear sitting in boxes that I should never got in the first place, regret gotten the lights I have. Trident being hard to get has likely saved me. Heck I have a seneye in the box and have never opened it... I have no idea what my par is lol.

Not thinking ahead, for example. I love diamond gobies, always wanted one, they are awesome and fun.... but it means I can never have the corals that are cool to me on the sandbed or clams or anything like that. So which one would I rather have...

All of the above and "tweaking" stuff. I find myself not leaving well enough alone. I'm always adjusting flow, lighting, etc... That unknown "best settings" drives me crazy. It's always "what if I do this..." Sad part, is that I've learned from more experienced folks is to leave it alone yet I'm always messing with something. "Let's see if I can incorporate my Apex and coffee maker...."

Spending too much money...on stuff I "need" for my aquarium (Equipment, corals, fish, everything)
