What Are Your Reefing Pet Peeves?

when people think just because you have it means you want to frag it
im not that hard up for 20 bucks and if i was id go flip burgers and still keep my coral

1. My (wifes favorite) Red Corris wrasse who won't let me keep anything on the sandbed or not glued down or he will flip it upside down. No matter how big it is, he flipped over a 6 inch clam to look for pods under it. And the fact that my wifes love for him helps me stay in the hobby.

2. When you say " I think my rockwork looks a little off on the right side here, I'll just move this one rock a bit" and 4 hours later all your rockwork is a mess and you cant get it right again as hard as you try.

The words "Nemo" and "Dori" drive me guano.

Also, when you explain live rock and how "everything is alive" and they point to a piece of equipment... "is that alive too?" hmm.. Well, since it is plugged into the wall yes... it is live... but you missed the point.

The absolute worst....

Non reefers trippin out on the tank... you go through the whole thing of explaining ORA and Tyree pieces that cost an arm and a leg for a fingernail and a hair.... and all they do is ask about your CUC.

lol!!!!!!!!! so true man so many people are mezmorized by the back of my corraline covered conch shell im like ARE YOU SERIOUS I HAVE OVER 100 creatures in here and you like the MOVING ROCK what the heck!!!!!!!!!!

All Blue pictures of tanks and corals and water. Just click the auto color in Picassa or something. It is one click. Especially when it is from a online store.

Photo shopping corals then selling them based on the photo shopped image. Making the coral look nothing like what it looks like in person. Agreed
love the pink (but really white eggcrate) Blue ( black eggcrate ), Blue ( white sand ) etc.....

also love the multiple crazy names one 1 specifc coral...

I agree photoshopping pics to make corals look better than they really are is just plain WRONG! That really makes me nuts.

Dido...love it! Thats how other reefers make them selves feel better...lol! My pet peeve would have to be how people add things to tank and think it will grow like mangroves grown in fresh water or dirt for .99 ea ya its easy to grow mangroves in dirt but to acclimate one over now that takes time and when your buddy gets mad at u when the macro grown in your refug turns clear in there main tank come on!

Id have to agree with all of you guys. when my wife asks me to help her clean the house first thing I do is start with my tank. Dirty tank equals a dirty house to me

I will have to try that next time, although I dont see it going over too well with my wife.

How about 'that guy' who waits untill the end of the frag swap, sees you have everything marked down to $10 ea and asks if you will take $5. When you say no, he replies, "how about two for $15?"

Boo to 'that guy'

I think I met that guy last year, lol. I think I ended up giving the frags to someone right in front of him instead of him trying to low-ball me.

The #1 for me is having my frag plugs and corals knocked down by crabs and snails. The other is the constant top off on my tanks. I believe my calcium levels are causing this, had newbie disease and dosed with plenty of Calcium and then got the bright idea of switching to Purple Up.

Other than that I take things with stride.

My top 10 pet peeves....

LFS with dead coral skeletons and fish in their tanks.

Cynobacteria

RTN and not being able to stop it

SW drips on a glass I just buffed crystal clear

Lower than advertised CA and MAG levels in new saltwater

The relationship between eBay & Paypal where US dollars are no good

A leaky TLF reactor

Mysteriously mobile frags

Being told the door is open when in fact its not

and my number one pet peeve.....

REEF CENTRAL!

:waaaht:

-Photoshopped "LE" Chalices
-Hobbyists who think hydrometers are accurate.
-People who think all LFS workers are full of bad information and sales techniques.
-Bioballs, Ceramic Rings and DSB's... it's 2010.
-People who talk about religion on the fish forums.
