What coral just does not work for you?

We all have that one coral that refuses to grow despite other corals doing well. For me its duncan corals, and certain zoas. My bam bam zoas grow just fine but my sunny d's not so much.

I can't get Zoas to grow in any of my three tanks. Frustrating because I really want a big healthy garden of zoas.

I'm not sure what melting is. They just start to thin out and eventually all of them are gone. It's more of a long slow process of deterioration.

Are you sure its not due to some sort of pest? Zoas get lots of pests including nudibranchs.

Mushrooms. Had some form of red smooth one that seemed to do fine. Then gone or so I thought. Found one in the lower light part of the tang below a hammer. Hammer grew, stung the mushroom that was coming back, now gone again. No idea how to keep those. Had a frilly green set, clowns thought it was a home and wanted to do some remodeling, and more or less killed it. No idea how but those failed other than the clowns doing whatever they do.

Zoa's are also difficult. Could be light, could be placement, could be some fish eating them - matted file fish comes to mind.

I have never had much luck with zoa's in my current setup. No problem with green button palys and green striped mushrooms. Thye survived a complete heat meltdown in 2003 and I still have them....yay.

Brains........I have no luck with brains.....got gifted a very large one from a friends tank shut down two weeks ago. It’s almost 8” across. So far so good. Just not going to tempt fate and try any others....ever.

Iv had 4 , they do great for a few months even grow abit than start to close up and die
Also Elegance coral ....no luck with them
