What could cause my monti cap to do this

so ibhave this well established green monti cap. today i noticed it started shedding its color and i have no idea why. yesterday it looked fine. ut today it looks awful it still has the growth rings and its vibrant color. will get back with parameter.

Looks like the purple cap is touching it and they are fighting each other, I’d say frag them back each about 3 inches so they each have some room to grow

They are touching in multiple places without killing. im testing rn but only thing that could be concerning is my salinity and phosphate

all other montis and acros look great. couldnt be monti eating nudis could it? no other death but in that one spot. here are the parameters. salinity is a little low usually keep it at 1.025. and po4 is a lottle high but nothing too bad.

Looking at the picture, seems like the purple monti may have stung it. If the growing edges meet and have time to grow up away from each other so the bottom side meet they won't harm each other. If part of the monti touches another one from the topside of the tissue it will fight it.. this JME.

Start dosing nopox for the po4 I always had stn in acros when mine was that high

Have you added any new corals lately? I'm not sure if Nudibranchs did this or not, but definitely keep your eyes peeled from now on. Check the coral at night with a flashlight, first thing in the morning etc. GL.

i have added about 10new corals all from battlecorals but 1 and they got dipped so highly unlikely it is nudis as they keep there systems super clean from pests. i was thinking stinging will frag some pieces and keep a close eye. i would hate to lose this colony

i just dose lanthanum chloride when it gets that high.

it has gotten worse. what should i do. i looked last night and saw no pests on it.

so i fragged away the affected parts and made frags out of any living tissue. i guess it needed to be done lol. hopefully it stops. I would hate to have to frag it even more.

Guys any thoughts. Dont believe its getting any better? I will check tonight again for monti eating nudis. What do they look like? Could the damage they do at night be making the coral strip during the day? I am really worried now as I have grown this coral from a frag and would hate to lose it. SOme of the frags I cut r peeling as well.

So I just read the article. Which helped but I am still uncertain if this damage is from the nudis. My first question is why is the damage continuing in daylight. They are nocturnal. Why haven't they gone for the purple monti which was literally on top of the green monti? How can I tell the difference between my berghias and the monti eating nudis. I plan to take a look at the tank around 1in the m orning to see what I am dealing with.

Like mentioned above I'm not sure if Nudibranchs are the problem here, but I wouldn't put too much faith in you not seeing them because they're nocturnal. When you got to eat you got to eat. As far as why they haven't gone after the purple one goes, time? I'm hoping it's something else, but these Nudibranchs are no joke. Just keep your eyes peeled regardless. (vigilant) GL.

i have over 13 montis all doing well except for my biggest one the green one...ughh i hope its not nudis and the coral was just mad for growing fast lol. if worst comes to worst i pull montis out and dip and scrub. do nudis eat encrusting montis as well as digitatas
