What do we, as reefers, want?

I sell coral when I need extra money. Does that mean I am not a hobbyist? Also I have seen several people post in the thread that have sold and traded and used the "name" of the piece they were offering. Is that a bad practice since we don't like the name game?

There are exceptions Rev. Yes when you are in a tight spot and need financial help. I understand we all get in a tight spot and do what we have to. I'm more so talking about the ones that does this for the sole purpose of profit.

No one said they don't like the name game David, Many were just saying they don't like it when there is dishonesty involved. I'd leave the rest up to the ethics of the individual ;)

I don't think anyone likes dishonesty besides the ones being dishonest! LOL! We all halp contribute to this if we use names IMO. Am I against using names, no way. I just use my noggin when I shop and look at corals. :D

I got ya and I see that. But I have sold to get extra money for vacation before. Heck I may sell something for my upcoming vacation this week! LOL!

Oh, one more thing that I really want...
I wish more people would ship to Anchorage, Alaska. Some people act like we are not a part of the country or that we are less advanced in our ability to get shipments or something. The weather is no worse than most of the mid-west and Anchorage is one of the most active shipping hubs in North America. I have been emailing AA for months and they won't even respond to me since I live up here.

I bet the IRS would consider all sellers dishonest...

That would be interesting to walk into a house in alaska and see a full blown reef :)

That is understandable and so have I! I'm sure you nor I have charged up the A hole for something that was a hitch hiker though. That is what I mean. It is rediculous that we as hobbiest allow that. Yes making a little money to pay for things here and there is totally different than someone gougeing fellow hobbiest just because they think it is cool looking and they are the only one that has it. I'm sorry I don't let money don't rule my life. That is probally why I find this trend concerning for the hobby as a whole. We are here to share what we have right? Or are we here to get the most money out of folks like you and I with a common interest. I have met so many people that probally won't talk to me if it wasn't for our common interest.

I'm with you on this ;)

dishonestly sucks. but when it comes down to it. i think there is nothing wrong with fraging a coral here and there especially to trim it. but the hack, chop shop is hard to look at in so many ways.

side note.. rev/dave. i think i am on here no more then rc these days. i like the other side of the fence

Well not directly contributing. But when you name a cool coral it is bound to be used in a dishonest or profitable manner. That's what I meant.

Oh, I see. Yeah, but the original namer doesn't have control over that. :(

I have removed the off topic jib jab. I want to apologize to Mark and to all the members for taking the thread off topic and for jumping to conclusions. My apologies.

As stated earlier in the thread. The LE, rare , one of a kind, never to be seen again are all marketing terms! Just by doing a little research you will come to find that most is not what they claim. I see lots of things that has those prefix labels in one vendors site then find it at another with a different name. Mother nature don't just produce only 1 of anything! If someone has something mother nature has produced you can bet there are more of it somewhere.
Really... You have an identical twin out there somewhere??? I see what you are saying, but as a zoologist I must disagree. The one constant in nature is variation.

As a reefer, I want... cheaper LED fixtures. Oh, and is it too much to ask for a rainbow duncan? or a tri color xenia? lol

As a reefer I want to see everybody get along and enjoy this hobby just like we all did when we started.

I think it does not matter what hobby it is, they all are not what they used to be.

Hip hop back in the day was about something totally different than what is "hip hop" now.

You know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about corals here.
