Love them. Its still a living creature do u love your kids any less if they are ugly I don't think so. There are tons of cats and dogs that are hideous but people love them my pandoras took over all my other zoas.

Aggressive zoa's, garbage can. All montipora, garbage can. Green slimmer, garbage can. Birds nest, garbage can. Blue/ice staghorn, garbage can. Yellow porites, garbage can. Hollywood stunner and similar chalices, garbage can. When I have a moment to prune coral out, there is no one close by I know to take it, so out it goes. I have two BTAs in tupperware right now...garbage can?

It’s funny that this was posted, because I’ve been wondering what to do with my thousands of Kenya Trees and green palys. I swear the Kenya trees are kudzu of a reef tank. Any suggestions would be a appreciated.

I put them in my bedroom anemone tank. If they spread, it's just area the anemone hasn't spread to, and when the anemone wants to spread it will.
But that is really only 2 coral for me. 1 of them is a big green paly I got as a "free gift" on an online order. I wish they hadn't. The other is a zoa that was yellowish, but turns mostly brown.

I have fast growing corals and extremely slow growing corals. I have kenya trees, pulsing xenia, gsp.
Point is..I like it, that's why it's in there! I tend to the faster growing corals and prune them back more often is all. If i can trade/sell/giveaway thats what I do. I personally have a hard time flushing or throwing away live animals that I worked my butt off to have. Cheap or expensive. This is just my point of view so don't take it personally, just my .02

I have a hard time getting rid of any of my aquarium pets as they grow on me gsp for example lots think its a weed of reef but as a growing wall not bad.

It’s not always easy to give coral away if you’re not in a major metropolitan area. If you’re in a small to medium town and have saturated your local base with your easy corals then what? No lfs to go to. Shipping isn’t cheap. I ship coral all the time. I’m happy to give away a 6”x6” frag of Ora montipora spongodes, or an Idaho grape monti mini colony...but would any of you really be happy to pay $40-50 for a “free” coral to be shipped to you?

Not happy but I suppose I have spongodes in 2 of my 3 tanks and 1 in my 55 gallon before. That often come to me as a freebe, anyways though they often grow very fast and take up a lot of realistate fast. However that said it is a very hardy nice looking coral that is a great beginner coral. If u are looking to have a nice looking coral with fast growth to show off-to friends with Decent Fluorescent glow it is not a bad choice. Far from a favorite but for beginner coral a must have to get that taste of success that gets us hooked in to the hobby for good. Its not the worst choice..

my goal is to spread the excitement and ambition I have for the hobby with others in hopes that it brings someone else as much joy as it does my self. I was hooked from day 1 and am now thousand of dollars in obviously as we all know. Started with a simple 55 gallon and before I knew it had a 160 gallon reef and a 210 gallon faulor and a 30 gallon AIO quarantine for my corals. still have the 55 gallon as a fish quarantine as well as few 20 gallon quarantine tanks it basically took my life over over night. There is nothing like having a piece of the ocean habitat in your living room.

If it's a stony that I can't get rid of quickly enough then I dry it out and it goes into my calcium reactor media bucket. It adds up quick!
If it's a softy I can't rid of, then it goes into the trash. Unfortunately, I don't think there's another use for these things...

My wifes Fowler 75g with misc "oops" fish purchases, Angels, etc. It's a catch-all, and surprising how many times someone may be browsing or picking up an order and decide "hey, I like that, can I buy it?" People LOVE thinking they're buying something from a display tank.

Sort of. I do see some aquaculture places recycling classic pieces with new names, but by and large, the type people who are ready to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on coral specimens typically are going to be informed buyers. Most people who spend big on coral don’t say “I want to just spend a bunch of moneY” , and select at random from high to to price sorted lists. If someone is enough of a sucker to pay $250 for a renamed Superman rhodactis they deserved to be deceived. I think that is more of an exception than the norm and internet sellers especially run the risk of being exposed by experienced hobbyists
