What do you guys feed for frozen?

TY! Just a very fast pic of em no filter with an old s9 lol, the yellow tang is a newbie from biota and just getting its yellow color in
I just recently got one as well, he’s gotten so much more yellow with the nori sheets being refilled every other day but he always finishes them all

Respect! My wife would kill me if I put this on my freezer though
I have a basement freezer as well as a mini fridge with a freezer that I also have in the basement, my wife wouldn't let me keep it in either one of her two fridges lol

I’m currently looking to add more variety to my feedings because as they say variety is important in reef tanks.
Below I’ve attached pictures of what I feed and what I soak my food in, usually soak for 20 minutes and freeze the rest for the next day. At night I feed TDO soaked in vita-chem and growth. Every other night I feed arcti pods with ROE and at night I feed the tank with live pods when lights go out (for mandarin)
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I was in charge of feeding my boss's fish over the holiday (yay for living closest, lol) - this is what he uses for frozen: Rod's Food "original blend". He also has an herbivore version. All of the fish go crazy for it (for reference, in his tank he currently has a clownfish, flame hawkfish, powder blue tang, and canary wrasse). I will probably buy some actually.

rods is great too , i live on long island but i havent seen it stocked for a while. LRS is maybe easier for east coast shipments? Idk just something ive seen over the years

Your variety looks awesome to me, and is about what I do when I can get my hands on stuff, plus or minus a couple.
I don't like to feed TOO many brine shrimp, even the supposedly 'fortified' ones. I reserve those for the most picky eaters.
Hikari makes others foods, so have a look at their website to see if there are other packages you may like your LFS to stock.
Lots of Hikari in my freezer, and some PE. I used to use the large slabs of PE, but switched to the cubes for ease of mixing with my other cubes.
I do as a couple others have mentioned/pictured use;
I have silicon cube trays and make my own mixes. Saves thawing/refreezing multiple times.
I thaw all the tinfoil cubes just enough to mix (but not enough to fully thaw), then spread in the trays. After an overnight freezing the trays covered in wax paper, I break them out of the silicon trays and vacuum pack them in batches with a Foodsaver. I use them up in about 3 months, but have made batches that lasted over 6 months without issues. Just be sure to remove as much air as possible to avoid freezer burn/crystalizing.
I only keep about a week's worth in a covered dish in the freezer, and only a day's worth in the fridge (if there are leftovers). I never re-freeze any that has been previously frozen, aside from re-freezing the cubes after mixing.

The only thing I see in your stockpile I wouldn't use regularly is the Garlic.
I only use it for finicky fish, and only during QT.
Once fish are added to the DT I stopped using garlic additives as there's been some recent chatter about garlic causing liver issues with Marine Fish.

I feed LRS. I do not use any other additives - I sometimes use the chunky version - sometimes the more plant-based blend, etc etc. They are somewhat expensive - but are much less water IMO - than other frozen foods.

I'm not sure you need to add more 'variety':)
I find that the Hikari products are often mostly water.

LRS is a very clean food. Definitely a good choice for somebody fighting nutrient issues.

I just make my own frozen. Clams, mussels, shrimp, octopus, whole squid and fresh mahi roe. I have a small food processor i bought just for that purpose. I also feed live grindal worms a few times a week as well as a few pellets occasionally. Nori is usually every few days as well. Everyone loves feeding time!

My wife would kill me if she saw me making my own mix and putting it in the freezer she has stopped eating shrimp because of it, I have heard better response during feeding so I’m guessing is so much more flavorful to them. Will look into PE but every time I go to my LFS they never seem to have it mostly hikari and LRS. I do how ever wanna start using reef frenzy as I’ve heard great texture and nutrients for the fish.

definitely pop out on the island to go to some LFS when you get a chance. NYC missing the better shops. On the island New york reef aquatic is amazing for high end zoas and lps, advanced marine aquatic is a good all around but mostly nice cheap sps frags. Not sure if NYra carries frozen but advanced marine definitely does. I have heard some good stuff about pop corals in brooklyn (haven been there yet). And definitely Pieces of the Ocean in staten if u ever get the chance (i mean u probably will never go because no one goes to staten island lol)

If you are near POTO hit 1st class aquarium.

looks nice but i only ever hit staten island once every 2 years or so if i want to pic up an order from poto and not get it shipped, but its $20 shipping vs $12 toll (lol) so i usually just get stuff shipped. Everytime i go its just like why are there so many gddamn turkeys gobbling around, who decided that these things should be protected in a populated area?

I’ve been to nyreefaqu, love their coral selection but don’t really trust their water… seen too many sick fish in their tanks so not sure how clean their frag tanks might be. I purchased 3 fish here and they’ve all died on me within the week.. I usually get my fish at a local petco, their main tank guy knows his stuff and keeps his tanks really clean and most important fish are healthy and show no signs of sickness. I’m not sure where I’ll be getting corals now that I’m good to go on the element parameters, have you ever ordered online?

Yea i mainly go for the zoas, completely different system and the frag tanks are soo much cleaner than the fish tanks (wont buy a fish there). I get fish from Island fish and scale (full qt), salgado reefs (full qt), NY aquatic (semi qt system) and tropical island aquariums (out of the treatment stystem they have like 6 different systems in that store)
All the time I get corals online though, wait for a good livesale from tckcorals.com or arc or calikidcoral etc and you can get amazing corals for awesome deals.

Will keep that in mind! Luckily my tank is stocked with the fish I planned on having on it so now is just a matter of getting the corals. Do you quarantine your corals or just dip them?

matters from what place, from tck, poto and arc they go straight in the tank no qt. Other places that i rarely buy from i pull off old frag plug, dip(series of bayers insecticide, coral rx and h2o2), then use super glue on any exposed bits if i have too and onto a new plug. No qt tank so that is my best option but i usually only buy from those three places anyway

Hoping that lateral line on mine gets covered soon, just looks like hlle when it came in but seems to be getting covered(maybe a juvi thing?), too soon to tell,

I feed mostly clams that I buy live and freeze. I supplement that with mysis and some LRS food. I don't add any vitamins, Selcon or anything except live white worms.

It’s definitely a juvenile thing, my friends tang is also captive bred and he didn’t lose the line until he reached the adult stage

i like pe mysis over hikari just because there is a lot of water in the hikari. The pe mysis i like to strain though as the water that it expels (probably due to having way more mysis) is a lot more cloudy
Do you think corals like the cloudy mysis water?
