I don't have a nyos, but most of them come with recommendations for water levels and stuff. It can take them a few days or a week to do anything - they have to sometimes work out films, oils, etc. from manufacturing process, so just set it up and ignore it for a week or so.
I would set it low so that it skims let at first. Once it is broken in you can dial it in better. Make sure that if it overflows, then everything goes into the tank and not out of the sump.
